Different Finish but Same Quality
I bought this same model from Gander Mountain years ago. I wanted to try using it as a shooting stick, but never did make much use of it that way, just didn't fit my style of shooting I guess. However, I found it to be an excellent collapsible hiking stick, very light and strong, and (in my opinion) better than many of the hiking sticks costing a lot more. I finally replaced the "Y" fitting on the top with a brass cap nut and have been using it as a dedicated hiking stick for years. One thing I like is that when extending it, it will NOT pull apart, while some of the more expensive ones will. This latest purchase is for my wife to use as a hiking stick. Mine has a gloss black finish and hers has a matte dark gray finish, and the removable bottom tip is a different material without the "cat's paw" imprint, but otherwise it appears to be the same. Oh, it also makes an excellent occasional-use monopod for field photography, as the top screw is a standard 1/4" x 20 tpi.

Great For It's Intended Use!
I got this yesterday and used it to sight in a new air rifle and pistol. This is a very inexpensive option to having a bench, bench rests etc. Easily adjustable. I simply sat in a lounge chair and plinked away. It is light but sturdy and will adjust from 2'-5'. I would not use this as a walking stick.

Works as a sturdy camera monopod too!
I bought this same shooting stick about 10 years ago, and used it avidly until the entire carbide tip insert popped out and was lost. Since i couldnt find a replacement insert, i bought this newer stick. Its pretty much exactly the same, except for the top of the shooting y and handle are a bit cheaper and the y is wobbly. I had to take it out in the garage and fine tune it a bit. But this is a good strong stick. Im 6 foot 190# and have no stability issues while walking. It does work pretty good as a shooting rest, but isnt as good as sitting or laying down, or a bipod. The thing i really like is that when you loosen and unscrew the shooting "y", the threading left on the handle end of the stick is the exact same thread that a camera tripod, so you can put your camera right on the end of the stick, and its right there! Monopod!

Won't go rifle hunting without it.
Did not expect to like this. I had a tripod before this that bugged me, and this, being a monopod, is much less stable, so why would I like it?Well friend, let me tell you.First, it is very small and light when packed. You can bring it in your hunting pack and not even know you have it. So bringing a shooting stick goes from a 'eh, should I?' to a "of course, why not?"Second, and this is what I really liked: With a tripod, you set it, and then you are sort of stuck. Yes, you can move a tripod or bipod, but gracefully, while down in the optic, quietly, following the deer? No.With this, I never hesitated to use it because my support hand on my rifle was right there so picking it up to move was a natural thing, I just moved it and the gun together to follow the game. It was fantastic. And the level of stability even a monopod adds is unreal, Yes, there is a little side to side sway sometimes, but not always, but your up and down sway (for me, my heartbeat will make the barrel move up and down) is gone. A complete doubling of confidence in my shot.Won't go rifle hunting without it.

Love it!
How did I hunt without this thing all those years??? It doubles as a trekking pole when walking in to hunt and stability is far better than offhand. It's light, collapses down for easy transport and adjusts high enough for standing shots. I am 6'1" and did not have it fully extended while standing. Great product!

Pretty okay. Failure after one day in the field.
It's light and started out very sturdy. I took it out for one weekend of elk hunting and the top telescoping point quit tightening up after day one. I think if they went with a clamp instead of a threaded spot to tighten this would be optimum. Pretty okay product but the idea is genius for rifle hunting.

Great monopod/walking pole.
This pole does exactly what I wanted it to do, relieve the stress of holding my AR and ATN X-Sight day/night sight while coyote hunting. Where I hunt, I need to be standing to keep the IR illuminator from causing the scope to contrast on the nearby weeds. By standing, I am over most of the weeds and brush. The pole locks well and is easily adjusted. I can hold the gun steady without any problems.

Failed with little use
When extended the locking mechanism won't tighten sufficiently to hold it in position. It keeps sliding down. Worked the first few times then failed. Poor quality.

Not durable
Used it about 5 times and now it won’t stay extended. Lesson learned pay a bit more and get a quality one
