## Description

Transol powdered solvent dyes are vibrant and strong coloring agents. Each multicolor kit contains 5 different colors of powdered solvent dye: YELLOW, RED, BROWN, BLUE, and BLACK. There are 10 grams of each color per kit, and each color is in its own resealable bag. These powdered dyes can be combined to form customized colors for your unique design. These dyes are suitable for use in solvent based wood stains and other solvent mixtures. Simply dissolve a small amount of dye in your desired solvent, then wipe or brush onto the wood to create a rustic look. Mix into your polyurethane, wood stain, varnish, lacquer, or other solvent-based paint or coating for a brilliant finish. Some of the typical solvents to use are alcohols, MEK, and toluene. These dyes will not mix well in water-based coatings. Do not use for soaps, cosmetics, or other personal care products. **Q: Product looks very interesting.  Can this be combined with a light drying oil, such as 100 Tung oil?  Thanks.**
A: have not used product yet.

**Q: Could this product be mixed with something to help penetrate thin wood veneer without raising the grain at all? If so, what?**
A: The most effective way to use this product for thin wood veneer is to blend pure grain alcohol, (99.9%, 198.6 Proof) with the desired tint of powdered solvent (start very light and add sparingly until color match is achieved) then add 1oz. dewaxed Lacquer flake or tab per Quart.  Let blend overnight or longer until lacquer is totally resolved.  Use a lint free cotton french polish ‘mouse’ to gently wipe finished solution onto thin wood vaneer.  It should dry within 10 minutes. Use a soft cotton cloth damp with mineral oil and sprinkled with x-fines of Rottenstone and rub lightly and evenly over dry layer. Wipe off oil residue and Rottenstone until thoroughly dry. Rub lightly with only pure grain alcohol to remove remaining oil film. But be delicate so as not to remove the thin layer of finish.
Continue to add layers and Rub with Rottenstone until desired color match is achieved.  Darker colors may require 20+ coats. Very dark colors can require 40-50 applications for deep color match.  This finish will accept oil based finishes, varathane, polymers and wax.  It is also quite durable when coated with Walnut Oil.
This is our antique furniture restoration process and it has never failed.

**Q: I'm a little confused. the packaging uses both 'stain' and 'dye' - which is it? i want to dye the wood not stain it. stain sits on top dye penetrates**
A: This product (not my favorite btw) is a dye when used per the instructions.  I have added it to many other mediums, paint, poly , varnish. Hope this helps.
