Know what you are buying
People expecting earth shattering Bass like something from the TDK a33/A34 Bose soundlink mini and the Sony srs-x5 will be disappointed if you are getting the dash 7 in hopes of that.Instead realize that the Dash 7 is without a doubt the most portable personal speaker you will get. With it you are getting clear mids and highs with incredible bass output for the design and space allowed with an incredible Battery of 12 hours. I personally have gotten 10 hours but that may be due to listening at higher volumes and using an eq app to fine tune it for my liking. It fits in my pocket and can be carried literally anywhere with the weight of 7.7 ounces. Bass can be improved by what surface you are on. Wood Tables are great for this.,But even then it is not going to thump.. more like add better bass definition to the song.Another thing is the nice case/stand. If you lay the lower flap flat instead of angled it doesnt fall even during heavy bass as others have complained about. The case is a nice touch. I wish there was a holster of some kind to carry it on my hip. Yet it slips into my pocket easily. It charges with the included barrel tip faster, than the micro usb slot.( It is noted that when plugged in, the speaker is better able to boost the bass. Or so it is noted online on the website. ) Yet for me being able to use my micro usb charger from my android phone is a nice touch and less cables to carry. The Dash can aloo charge with portable battery I carry via one of the usb outputs. The MIni and a33 have dedicated chargers that need a wall outlet. This may be something to consider if you are away from an outlet. The sound is truly excellent for the size of this mighty speaker.Just realize the limitations of it. You will get distortion at highest volumes though and with some tones just due to the size and design. That is going to be natural. Still,It is Amazing. Simple and plain.I own the TDK a33 and Sounlink mini, with the sound preference for me going to the A33 but it isnt as portable as the Soundlink mini. Yet as good as the soundlink mini sounds it is heavy, still more portable though than the tdk .. but it lacks definition of the highs and muddies the mids. Another annoying thing about the Bose is when I play Music in bluetooth there is a stutter that is annoying. every 15 seconds or so it occurs. I am hoping a future update will adress this issue as My Note 3 with the Dash 7 and TDK do not have this problem, It is weird. Still the Soundlink mini is incredible even with all the nit picks I have. The TDK is excellent at all volumes with great bass from highest volumes to the lowest. It is just a brick though. Still it is water and dirt resistant and we use it to play music in the house and backyard as it can be pushed without distorting at higher volumes unlike the soundlink mini. The weakpoint was the use of the ni-cad batteries in the a33. The a34 (which is the updated a33 model) adressed this issue with li-ion.In ending this, the soundmatters has become my daily Speaker to carry with me, replacing the bose just due to its sound and portablity. I can live without the deeper bass for awhile. Where the A33 is used at home or camping now. I use the mini when I do art work or bills now mostly.I also got the Dash 7 when it was at a low price of 166 on amazon. So that was a nice steal.

Vibrant sound from such a tiny speaker
Ordered the Dash 7 on the Oct 21 and recieved on Oct 23 2013 so right off the bat excellent service getting the product in my hands. With the Dash 7 in my hands you recognize that it has a bit of heft to it and I'm sure I could really do some damage if I really wanted to go about flinging my 200 dollar speaker at someone.I agree with another user in that there is no audio cues for when you turn the Dash 7 on and off or connect with bluetooth which is a bit annoying. But with that said as long as you read the instruction book and are looking for the changes in light colors from the led light you should have no problems pairing this device to anything with bluetooth. I did have one instance where my nokia lumia 920 had some trouble with pairing, but considering I haven't had any trouble with my laptop I'm going to tentatively say that it is my phone that was having problems that was fix with a reset of my phone. Now to the sound, I really can't say anything other than this has got to be the greatest sound I've heard from a pair of bluetooth speakers. When I say greatest, the best way to explain it is that the sound is crisp, and vibrant coming from the Dash 7. Now don't get me wrong, if you turn everything up too 100 percent on your phone/laptop/bluetooth device and the Dash 7 you are more than likely going to get a bit of distortion. At the same time though if you only turn the volume down a little bit you can get room filling sound if not house filling sound that I was getting with it at its loudest before distortion. Testing the range of the bluetooth I was able to go about 75 to 100 ft before I got hiccups and pauses in the music I was playing. This would probably be affected by what kind of bluetooth your device has.Battery power was an impressive 11 hours on bluetooth, which in itself is amazing considering I had to start charging my phone before I had to charge the speakers. Keep in mind that this will be affected by how high you have the volume. Charge time has been relatively fast in that after a whole day of use it only takes about an hr to hr and a half to charge all the way up.The Dash 7 is magnetically attached to the speaker cover which is quite nice for traveling. When it comes to using it as a mini stand I find that if you slide the magnetic part halfway down the speaker when you are propping it up helps it a bit with the bass. At the same time, I think that the speaker does really well by itself on a table which gives more sound instead of propping up. So most of the time I have it lying flat on a table off of the cover. The speaker phone worked like a charm, I was able to talk and listen to people on the other end quite well. They said that they couldn't tell I was on a speakerphone, even when I was a good 15-20 ft away from the speaker. Now if you just want room filling sound go get yourself something cheaper and bigger to go about your audio business. Now if you want something that will do well in a room or outside with a small gathering or even in your various travels and are a bit of an audio buff then the 200 dollars are well worth it for this phenomenal speaker.Pros:Feels and looks well made with a bit of heftLoud, crisp and vibrant soundAwesome speakerphoneExcellent Battery lifeGreat Bluetooth range and easy pairingFast RechargeCons:Have to adjust sound when you get to higher volumes to avoid distortion of sound or bassPrice (sound wise though you get what you paid for)No audio cues for turn on/off or bluetooth connection (Soundmatters please please fix this)Cover really doesn't work as a stand without some fiddlingThe only reason this speaker doesn't get five stars is because there are no sound cues for on/off and bluetooth connection. If they fix this I would easily give the Dash 7 five stars.

Check physical sound before buying
First drawback to this product is, it is not available in any stores. So, you don't get to listen to the sound or compare with another speaker in a store. And then just go through reviews sites believe some audiophile and get it to home. There you will see the difference is what is said and what is it capable of. Sound was clear in volume was min-medium. But, then if increase the volume to max you will listen distortion. Also, it lacks the bass and punch. I could see little difference between this speaker and my Oontz Curve. And Oontz was able to give same clarity (not as good as this) at all volume levels. This speaker need to work on the high volume and place it right product space. This is pure travel speaker and not a great table top speaker.

DASH7 was DOA
I have purchased numerous "high end/premium" portable Bluetooth speakers and have been impressed with many sound characteristics, style, ease of use, etc on all. Soundmatters DASH7 was the first and only one that was dead on arrival. Unit won't charge, turn on (even when connected to their AC adapter), no response from the LED operational light....nothing. Have attempted resets and exhausted all efforts to even get the slightest sign of brain activity inside the DASH7. As of now it is just a $159.00 7oz paperweight. Will be returning the DASH and the foxlo sub, which wasn't opened, due to the non-responsiveness. Soundmatters IMO due to apparent quality control issues, won't get a second look from me.
