I am not an advance cook, but I can hold my own. I use this 2X week in the winter. The seal will take some time to indent and will eventually have memory - but it will become easy to seal. In the meantime, simply use you fingernails to check & see if opposite sides of the top are equal distance from the pot and invest in taking the time up front to seal appropriately. I am old enough to refuse cheap products (when possible) and have many products from years past - including my home. This is amazing quality and will outlive me for sure. You can also easily purchase replacement products too. This product is a favorite and a part of my world, it is an important part of my kitchen life and it brings so many delicious dishes to my family! I don’t think all Americans recognize the quality because it is not an insta-pot as I see some negative reviews and also some common mistakes. Later on, I figured out that the knob has to be turned tight all the way, and it worked fine ever since then. It requires some force that I hope I will still have when I am 80.
