Seco-Larm SM-4201-LQ Enforcer Track-Mount Overhead Door Magnetic Contact Switch

I'm using this to replace the magnetic switch that I was using it came with "lomota Smart WiFi Garage Door Opener Remote, Tuya Smart Life App Control, Work with Google Assistant and Alexa, Multiple Notification Modes, No Hub Needed" https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086MKP14K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I bought the Ionota Device in August 2021 and have been using is ever since. I programed it to close the garage door if it has been left open more than 10 minutes. That worked fine until recently when the magnetic switch quit working. The Ionota device was seeing the garage door as open and sending a signal to close it which was actually opening it. I didn't recognize right away that the magnetic switch was the problem. Since I've replaced it with this switch I have not had any problems (01/21/2024). I've uploaded a picture on how I mounted it. I found the instructions that came with the switch surprisingly lacking any instructions on how to mount it so I hope my picture helps. I read a review when looking to buy this where they had a picture of they mounted this device. If it hadn't been for that picture I probably wouldn't have bought it. Any it works great and seems heavy duty. I expect it to continue working for many years.

Works on standard home garage door rails. Easy to install to replace defective floor mount sensor. Will not be exposed to moisture since it is mounted on inside rail and not on floor at bottom of the door. Magnet mounts easily to pre-drilled location on the door panel. Mount the magnet and adjust the sensor to align with door closed.

These are great once you figure out how to mount it on the overhead door track. The instructions are non-existent. The key piece of information you need to know is that the bolt head mysteriously protruding from the top of the reed switch assembly needs to be tightened down after you loosely clamp the assembly and the L-bracket that screws onto it around the track. It is impossible to clamp those 2 pieces around the track tightly enough to hold it in place. But when you tighten that bolt down, it presses against the curved part of the bracket and bends it down against the track. Without knowing that, you are pointlessly trying to figure out how to get the reed switch assembly and the L-bracket that screws onto it to squeeze around the track tightly enough to hold it on. I am a cheapskate and have always used the little plastic reed switches and spent tons of time finding ways to mount them, but now that I have used these, I'm done with that. I immediately bought a 2nd one for my other overhead door. Are they ridiculously overpriced for what they are? Yes. Should you buy them anyway? Absolutely! Because the alternatives stink.

The Good: This magnetic contact switch is built like a tank - excellent build quality and feels like it'll last for years. Installation was straightforward despite the lackluster instructions (you'll figure it out). Works perfectly for garage door monitoring in my Home Assistant setup. The Issue: The sensor isn't really designed for vertical mounting, which causes some problems. When mounted vertically on my garage door track, it creates a "flapping" effect during door operation that triggers false readings during the opening/closing cycle. This interferes with automation timing in Home Assistant. The Workaround: I added a 3-second delay to my Home Assistant notifications to deal with the flapping during door operation. This simple fix eliminates the false triggers and makes the sensor work reliably for automations. Bottom Line: Great sensor if you can mount it horizontally or in a stable position. The build quality is top-notch and it's very reliable once properly positioned. Even with vertical mounting issues, it's easily manageable with proper automation delays. Recommendation: Works great for horizontal installations. For vertical mounting, just add a delay to your automations to account for the flapping - problem solved! Took off one star because the instructions are really poor - but the product itself is solid.

I replaced a yolink door sensor magnet with this much hardier substantial magnet. On an exterior commercial slide gate. Working very well. Good distance detection for the magnet which allowed wind movement of the gate to not create false alerts. Minimal to no instructions.

Worked great as a safety switch for an overhead infrared heater. The heater was hung in an area where an overhead door would obstruct it. Added two of these to make sure the heater wouldn't come on when the door was up. Worked flawlessly. Build quality is solid and the set up directions were simple to understand.

Easily installed with basic knowledge and tools. Works perfectly, paired with a Shelly device and integrated into my HomeKit system. Mounted my magnet on the side of the door and railing holds the switch. Per other reviews stating issues with multiple triggers as the system closes, I offset my magnet a couple of inches higher and it’s flawless.

These work great, and track mount works well if the door is a high-lift door where the sensor would hit if you mounted it at the top. We almost always mount on the track or the top, if you're mounting on the top, then this sensor is not the right one... The instructions are sparse, but if you've put one of these on before you don't need much. Get it adjusted where it's fairly snug and just goes over the rail, and then use the screw to tighten it down against the rail. This wires as an NC alarm sensor.
