Paleo chocolate dream
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars! This product is amazing. I just got done doing a 30 day detox and eating strictly paleo and I can say that these chocolate muffins 100% satisfied that sweet, chocolate flavor I was craving. I will not go back to brownies or regular chocolate cake. This will be a staple in our house go forward as we continue to eat paleo. Thank you paleo baking company for a wonderful product! These are a healthy alternative and have great flavor!

Just Bake Your Own Cake
Note: I'm keto-adapted, so I'm used to not having sugar and have a pretty clean diet.My husband bought me a variety of these mixes to try since I love baking, and so I baked this today.First of all, this mix is made up of stuff I could find in my local supermarket. Not that hard to find. I was expecting a mix that was more than just coconut flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder. For this, my husband paid $9?That would have been fine, except for the fact that this mix asks for a cup of coconut oil, a cup of honey, 1/2 cup of water, and six eggs. Seriously? I've never run across a simple cake recipe that asked for all of that. Then I baked it...and my husband spit it out as soon as he tasted it. We've been together for ten years, and I've baked for him a lot in the past. This is the only time he's ever refused to eat something I've baked. So I tasted it.This does not taste like cake. It doesn't even taste edible. It smells and tastes like something you should never serve to anyone ever. And as soon as I cut into this cake, the horrible smell wafted into my kitchen. I had my husband throw it down our apartment trash chute immediately.I'm shocked that this cake was bad. How can a chocolate cake mix go so wrong? The ingredients are fairly common and are used in paleo and keto recipes all the time. I've baked cakes with the same ingredients. So for any keto friends thinking of using this mix -- proceed at your own peril. I'm warning you now, this cake, no matter what diet you stick to, is not worth the time or effort. Just bake your own cake. I promise you, it will taste better.

Easy, healthy choice!
This mix is easy to make, has a good texture and is a healthy choice for a paleo treat. The only thing that stopped it from being a 5-star for me is that it had a strong coconut taste (from the oil). I think next time I will try less oil and see what happens. I will update review when I do.

Good enough for civilians to love!
Chocolate goodness, and much fluffier than most of the paleo cakes I bake from scratch. We got it during a period when a home renovation overlapped a family birthday, and made it at a friend's house (using agave instead of honey, and a smaller deeper pan than suggested). Came out great -- that is, it tasted just like a chocolate cake made from a mix is expected to (but was much more filling). I'm a few years into eating paleo, but my non-paleo family also raved.

Too complicated, flavor not great, instructions lacking
First off, this cake is 100% coconut flour. I'm a huge coconut fan in general but baked goods using just coconut flour tend to have really weird textures and flavors, and this cake lived right on up to that. I would have expected some proprietary blend of several paleo fours, maybe some almond, some coconut, some tapioca, some potato starch, etc. but nope. Straight coconut flour. Then you have to add sooooo much of other ingredients, you're looking at a $20 cake here. It does say you can replace the honey with a sweetener of choice, but offers no idea of how much of another sweetener to use. Maple syrup probably could be used cup for cup, but what if you are sugar free and need to use stevia, or a sugar alcohol like Swerve? No help on that front, but if you try something dry like swerve, add more water. To compensate for the lack of moisture. I guess just eyeball it.But I don't know if any of that is worth it, because the cake just had a permanent burnt flavor. I used the mix in a baby cakes cupcake/donut/cake pop maker, and we just threw them all out. When you have to add so much and figure out measurements for yourself, it's really not any easier or faster than just baking from a recipe. I'm sure you can find a better tasting recipe online, and the resulting cake would be cheaper too.

while it does taste pretty good, save your $
If you bake paleo don't buy this, you probably have all the ingredients at home already. I laughed when I read what was in it (basically almond flour, cocoa powder and baking soda), then you add all the eggs and honey... while it does taste pretty good, save your $.

Love Paleo Chocolate Cake & Muffin Mix
This is a great product for Paleo lovers or even people that don't follow the Paleo diet. My husband who does not follow the Paleo diet asked me to make another Paleo Chocolate cake from Paleo Baking Co. It is delicious and health. No sugar added. You use honey. Also the mix blends easily with the other ingredients we add, that you won't need to use a blender or a mixer.I just love this product.

Great mix!
Great mix for both chocolate cake and brownies. I use it as a base and add ingredients (nuts, chips, fruit) based on what I am trying to make. I also play with the baking time to achieve the texture I want for a particular recipe. I've also substituted unsweetened apple sauce to lower the total sugar. Very good when made per the instructions and even better when you use your imagination!
