Great photography
It's a great library book in good condition, from Johnson county library. Bottom of the book was stuck together but it was easy to pull the pages apart that's the only reason I didn't give it great. Love the pictures and the way it explains everything high clumping invasive drought tolerant it's really a good book.

I was hoping for a little more
I recently purchased three books about bambooone was almost a pamphlet - just a few pages of words and lots of picsone was for professionals - someone who worked with plants already and wanted to getinto the cultivation + propagation - disease types and prevention - and the science of installationthis was my third purchase and I was expecting something in betweenIt was really just a series of pics and short explanationsI was hoping for a little more depth -

Not what I thought
I was unaware that this only gave the different types of Bamboo trees. I thought it was a book to help with Bamboo projects.

Waste of money
Do not buy this book if you live in a tropical region. This book is mostly about cold weather bamboo. It has a lot of pictures but very little useful information. I bought it to learn about starting new plant. I have learned nothing from this book. If you live in the northern US and like pictures of bamboo you might enjoy this book. If you're looking for information, save your money and check out Pinterest. I'll be donating my copy to the local library. It's not worth wasting the space on my bookshelf.

First Class guidebook for Bamboo plants for UK climate.
I am an experienced gardener realising I have little knowledge on this exciting group of plants. This little gem has all the info on the best plants for use in all situations in U.K. gardens. It covers hardiness, culm diameter(cane stem), leave size, sun/shade requirements, height/spread, and situation suitability for all these species. Whether best as a specimen plant, for screening or pot culture. There are also recommendations of "similar" cultivars within each one to look out for, with a brief description of the differences. He also lists plants to give exciting combinations of form, colour and structure along with bamboos in the garden. This is followed up with lots of info on where to buy and see bamboos. Paul Whittaker's passion for these plants comes over with infections properties. One of the best garden books I have read. I am sure I will use it again and again for reference as I now feel I need some bamboos in my garden!
