Paititi Gold Metal Txx #7 Tenor Mouthpiece
Okay, with over 45 years experience I, like Sirvalorsax (check out his review), buy and test these budget metal mouthpieces to recommend to students where appropriate and I have a collection of Chinese mouthpieces including this Paititi gold metal #7. I am really impressed with the manufacture quality and the speed of delivery. The table is well machined, very flat and even as is the chamber and bore. The Paititi is a perfect fit on my Yamaha YTS-62 tenor. The baffle is what I call a step baffle which extends right back to the chamber and bore and, is modestly high. This makes the mouthpiece very free blowing with a bright and edgy tone, oodles of power and projection. The high notes are certainly bright and the lows sing really nicely. Sub-tones are very good and altissimo notes come out easily. Overall I find the tone excellent and very controllable. I like a bright mouthpiece for Rhythm and Blues and when playing with LOUD guitars! The ligature is very similar to my Lawton Bronze whereby it slides into two rebated rails on either side with a single central thumbscrew that seats a pressure plate onto the reed. It clamps down really firmly. The cap is a also a similar set-up to the Lawton with a sort of flat shape that just covers the mouthpiece tip and slots over the ligature shoulders on both sides. The side rails are spot on. I used a Rico Orange Box 3.5 reed to test the mouthpiece and it was a great fit at the tip (I usually use LaVoz reeds). The mouthpiece length is longish being about the same length as my Lawton Bronze 9BB at just under 11cm so, tuning is spot on. The tip opening is around 6-7 but you know what, there is no standard and it’s about the same as my Mark 2 Brilhart Metal Level-Air 7.Would I recommend these mouthpieces? Oh yes, in a heartbeat and this one has wow factor and gets top prize. Would I use them for gigs? Yes most certainly. Just remember that it will take inexperienced players a little embouchure adjustment to get things working properly and they’ll get you on the path to playing wider tip mouthpieces for more power and a much richer mould-able sound that will get over the loud on stage noise and, for you to be able to hear yourself from low to high notes. Use your normal strength reeds but be prepared to experiment with different reeds.Footnote: These mouthpieces are very similar in design to my Lawton’s and Berg Larsen’s and, in copying those and with modern CAD engineering the Chinese are turning out very consistent good quality.

10-1-2020 very good
the very first notes i played on this mouthpiece made me think and say " wow " i like it . i have a cheap tenor sax and was using a cheap mouthpiece , and it played ok , i took a chance and ordered one of these . my tenor plays so much better now . all the notes are easy to play now ... highs and lows . i just now ordered one for my alto sax , the big name brand metal mouthpieces are $300 to $500 , i am so glad that i didn't fall for the more expensive " more better " idea . these are really good mouthpieces and very good " tone "

Good affordable mouthpiece, bright sound.
From an intermediate players point of view. This mouthpiece is nice takes a little getting use to but once you do, it plays nice sounds very cool. Be warned it plays bright at least for my tast. But for the price you can't go wrong and honestly sometimes you need a bright sound for the style of music your playing. Would I buy again yes it's really an amazing mouthpiece and with a built in ligature as well.

Great for the price, not for beginners
Honestly, this mouthpiece plays like a dream for the price. Don't get it unless you already know what you're doing though. I think a good market for this piece would be mainly adults in a gigging environment. Let me repeat, IF YOU ARE A STUDENT/PARENT, DO NOT BUY THIS. This isn't a mouthpiece for somebody with an underdeveloped embouchure.Tone is great, nice and bright, very cutting and very loud. With a more gentle hand, it plays very smoky and sweet. The reason I'm knocking a star off is that the reed cap is terrible. It's made of what appears to be rough cut, stamped sheet metal. The first time I put it on, it left a huge scratch right down the side of the mouthpiece. It's sharp enough to cut yourself on too. This would've been much better with a simple cylinder type cap.
