How to Cook for Crohn's and Colitis: More than 200 healthy, delicious recipes the whole family will love

Good food but, nothing new.
If you have Crohn's, like me, you can buy this book.If you don't have Crohn's, you can buy this book.Since Crohn's reacts differently for each individual it's hard to say whether you'll benefit from this book, or not.In reviewing the recipes I find that a lot of them are meals I've already prepared and ingest regularly. However, as with any cook book you will find new ideas to try out. Having knowledge of what makes you flare up can help you avoid some of the ingredients - there's no magic, here, but, it's a good book. It's written in plain language and starts with the story of how the author was diagnosed with Crohn's - with humor included.

Well Worth Having!!!
I'm very pleased with the purchase of this book. This book is full of new information to me that I had no idea about or hadn't even thought to try. For instance... Miracle Whip verses Light Mayo. I've always been a mayo user, it was really hard to even have to switch to the Light stuff. Even that started giving me trouble recently. I purchased some Miracle Whip after the tip from this book and low and behold... I felt fine after eating it. It tasted really good too, something different for a change and so light on the gut!Although I haven't tried any recipes from this yet there is a wide variety to pick from and simple looking too. I look forward to trying the recipes soon. All of the new tips alone were sure worth the price to me. I highly recomend this book to anyone with these conditions!!!Cheers to Brenda Roscher and Dr. James F. Marion, MD!

Wonderful Book for People with UC
I was diagnosed with UC in December of 2001. I studied up on the disease to educate myself and I found recipes here and there that I liked. The problem was that many of the recipes required the purchasing of expensive items at the health food store that I had never heard of. Another problem was that the food was stuff that I normally wouldn't eat. This book is perfect for an average UC patient. By average I mean you're not used to spending a ton of money on your nightly dinner. These recipes taste wonderful and I have already noticed an improvement in my flare-ups. The rest of your family won't tell the difference that the mac and cheese is bowel friendly. I think this is the best UC cook book currently out on the market. I love it!

Disappointed
The introduction is what I liked most about this book. What I was disappointed in was the content. My grandson (9 years old) was recently diagnosed with Crohns Disease. I was looking for a cookbook that would guide me and his family through the process of what we can fix for him to eat. The recipes are definitely not geared toward those who are new to the disease. There are just too many ingredients that my grandson is not allowed at this point. All in all, it's just a regular cookbook to me which is an opinion shared by my daughter-in-law after she read through it. I truly can't recommend it for a Crohns sufferer.

Great Recipes.
I love these recipes. Basic, easy and delicious. I have IBD. I am not afraid to leave the house after eating these recipes. I understand now about adequate nutrition and why I have more energy after following her guidelines. Thank you Brenda for the most helpful book.

Good good
Plenty of tasty meals anyone can enjoy but some things seem a little weird, as in, there seem to be several recipes with ingredients that would be hard to digest when sick. I use this book during my remissions.

Old fashioned cookbook
Wasn't what I expected! Gave some good tips like removing the rib out of lettuce, but I was expecting to find recipes to help improve my diet during a 'flare-up' and didn't find any so bit disappointing.
