Pocketful of Performance!
(After a year, or so, of use I'm editing this review with just this one added caution: Do not assume that you can leave a USB power supply plugged into the BL-P1 and then leave the light on for an extended period of time. I made that mistake, so as to use it as a reading light. The unit overheated and died. I should have checked with the manufacturer, I suppose, to see if that was advisable. Aside from that, the review below still stands. But I do miss this great light, now.) Some great reviews convinced me that the Boling BL-P1 light was worth a try, and I was happy to see that INSSTRO, with whom I'd had great success ordering other gear for my photography/videography business, was offering the light through Amazon. So two days after placing the order, I was playing with this amazing product. The BL-P1 has nearly everything going for it but a catchy name. It's list of capabilities is both long and impressive, serving capably as a compact on-camera light or off-camera key, fill, hair or background light. In my workflow, it will often be employed in product photography. While one of my favorite attributes is its compact size, it also pumps out amazingly bright light for such a small package. And its output can be adjusted from 100% all the way down to 0%, unlike many LED systems. Color temperature is adjustable from 2500K - 8500K, and a nifty little LCD readout on the rear panel displays the % of power, the color temperature selected and the mode you have selected. In addition to the variable light mode, the BL-P1 is a cell-phone-sized special effects production machine that produces RGB for that spot of color a scene might need, without the need for a gel, plus simulations of lightning, police, ambulance, fire truck flashing lights and more. Recharging the built in battery is easy from any USB charger, using the supplied USB-C cable, and the battery life is very respectable, and seems to be just as reported in the specs. The construction is impressive: both rugged and precision are the words that come to mind. And the Transformer-like mounting arm is like something out of a robotics lab, sturdy, smooth operating and ingeniously designed to provide a wealth of 1/4"-20 mounting holes and possible mounting angles, whether used on a camera hot shoe, camera cage, a pole or stand, attached to your favorite grip gear or free-standing, using the arm as, well... a leg. The power switch sits on the top edge, and has a tactile feel, allowing easy activation in the dark, and the other controls are all on the end opposite the mounting bracket. The unit comes with a rugged little adapter for mounting to a hot or cold shoe. A real bonus is the well designed carrying case that is also provided. The case is equipped with a long, protective flap with hook-and-loop closure, two snap-down strips on the back for belt or strap attachment and a small allen wrench, secreted away behind a velcroesque flap to ensure you'll have it handy should you wish to detach the mounting bracket from the light. The two straps can be re-routed through near-flush loops on the back of the case to allow them to better fit a narrower belt or strap. Quite clever. All in all, the Boling BL-P1 from INSSTRO is my new favorite LED light source, and is already subconciously suggesting video scene ideas that will employ its multiple talents.

Great, Versatile Light. Highly Recommended
This is a very versatile light. In addition to standard LED panel features that you tend to get, with variable brightness and color temperature, this is also an RGB LED, which means you can create virtually any color light by just tweaking the settings! Before we get into the light's features and how well this light works, I wanted to quickly mention the form factor. The light panel itself is 2 3/4" x 4 7/8" x 5/8" (7cm x 12.4cm x 1.5cm). On the side opposite the controls is a wonderful, fully articulating mounting bracket. This bracket adds another 3/4” (2cm) to the width of the whole package, but it’s great because right out of the box you can slap this light on any tripod and position it at any angle. So this light is nice and small. Smaller than my iPhone 7+, making it easily pocketable. The controls are nice and easy. On top you have a dedicated power switch, which I like a lot. On similar style lights, you have a set switch, which doubles as a power switch, which isn't bad, but I really like the dedicated sliding power switch on this light. Also on top is the USB-C charging port. Which is awesome. I have long hated all variations of the USB mini and micro ports. Good riddance to those ports. If you're looking at the back of the light, on the left is the bracket, and on the right you have the set switch for changing modes. The light has three modes. Standard mode, where you can control the overall brightness, and the color temperature In this mode you control the color temperature with the FN wheel, and set the brightness with the dim wheel. In RGB mode, the color is set in degrees from 0º-360º, starting with red at 0º and moving through orange, yellow green, blue, purple, violet, and ending with magenta at 360º There’s a handy chart on the back showing you the degree setting for particular colors, but even without that it’s easy enough to figure it out as the color of the light actively changes as you change the setting. By default, when you enter into RGB mode, your in color selection mode, and to change the color you use the FN wheel. If you want to change the saturation of the color you’ve chosen, you can press the FN wheel, which also acts as a button, to switch the setting from color to saturation, and then use the FN wheel to set the saturation level. Press the FN wheel again to switch back to changing the color. And just as in standard mode, you can use the dim switch to change how bright the light is. The last mode is Scene mode, where you can choose from various lighting scene emulations like police lights, strobing colors, etc..., and again, regardless of the mode chosen, you control how bright the light is with the dim wheel. All in all, this is a great light. My only complaint is that the dim wheel is not very smooth. It’s very easy to spin the wheel and make big changes to the brightness, but making very small changes requires a little fiddling. All in all great light

Highly underrated; great video light!
This is an amazing product. It's feature set blows away cheaper offerings and is well worth the money. It is plenty bright for indoor use, I believe 1500 lumens. The light features a small easy-to-read LCD on the back giving you details about battery life, modes, brightness, and other info. I love the fact that you can adjust through the full RGB spectrum in one mode, as well as adjust color temperature from very warm to very cool white in another. The unit charges via USB-C as well, so it charges very quickly. Battery life is great, but since I use it at varying degrees of brightness I cannot say exactly how long it will run continuously. The light itself is very sturdy and weighs a bit more than the cheaper plastic LED panels out there, very solid construction. Attached to the panel is a rotating adjustable mount/stand that allows you to attach it to tripods, light stands, or hanging off an object. I was previously using Lume Cubes for my photo work, which are about the same overall brightness, but there were two major downsides to them. For one, the Lume Cubes are a single high power LED, which are very bright, but also only a single color temperature which is slightly cooler than daylight balanced. Also because of it's small surface area, when using the Lume Cubes for portrait or macro work, they create a bit more contrast. By the same token, this Boling LED panel offers a better spread of light from a larger panel allowing you to get a bit less contrasty light by comparison. Second, the Lume Cubes have an annoying halo of colored light at the outer edges of its beam, presumable due to it's reflector design. While not a problem in most cases, occasionally it would show up in photos. All in all, this is probably the best compact LED panel available on Amazon to my knowledge and is well worth the money!

A Light Show In Your Pocket
This little beast of a light does everything I need it to, it has a nice wide color temperature range that goes between 2500k-8500k, and full RGB spectrum color and saturation adjustment, and all of this is easily readable on the device's led backlit display. This light has been perfect for extra light in daylight situations where my subject is shaded, and to match any ambient light source during my nighttime shoots. The Boling P1 RGB light also has a good number of special effects features for videographers, such as simulated lighting, police lights, the flickering glow of a television screen, and more. And all of this in a device no bigger than my cell phone, with a battery that lasts a solid two and a half hours on full power. Speaking of battery, it's packing a lithium ion battery that will charge in about 90 minutes via the device's USB Type-C port. And unlike some portable lights I've used, this one will work while it's charging, meaning you can use it indefinitely in a studio setting. And perhaps one if the coolest little features is its adjustable mount, a little metal jointed extension that has standard tripod screw mounts on every side. It's sturdy enough to hold position with any adjustments you make to the joints, and if ever the joints lose rigidity as the years go on, the light comes equipped with an alan wrench tucked right in it's carrying case to tighten the joints. The Boling P1 RGB light is without a doubt the best portable light I own, with it's solidly built metal design and diverse feature set, it really is like having a portable light studio right at my side.

Wow...What a LIGHT!
When you first read or think of a small light that can literally fit in your pocket, you probably think it's not going to be very good. In the case of the Boling BL-P1 you'd be completely wrong as this little guy packs all the punches and doesn't hold back. This thing is not only bi-color but has full RGB at its disposal, which makes for some rather fun lighting setups. I'm mainly a wedding photographer but I also shoot a good portion video work as well. The pictures attached are from a recent wedding where this light really helped me add light and match the room tones rather than mix the lighting. My second shooter was equally amazed at the light I was showing him and having him hold for me, to be honest he's probably going to order one as well. Pro: Full RGB and Bi-color Super bright USB-C Charging Build quality (its literally a small tank) The built in arm is odd at first but pretty nice Built in Effects Case and packaging its the full setup Cons: No wifi or blue tooth. This would be awesome to have in V2 to control via a phone Wish there was a grid with it Also wish it had some extra diffusion If you're looking to kick up your lighting in a really nice small package this light has it all! Buy one!

Good if you want a toy light
Expensive but not worth the money AT ALL! I used once shooting a wedding and it is like using a candle. Kinda bulky too and it looks cheap - makes you look like an amateur. I kept it just in case some day my Canon flash that has never failed - fails and I have to use this terrible thing and look like a loser.

Perfect light....for 6 months anyway.
I love this light, use it daily. Built like a tank, super bright, flexible with both color and color temperature, and plenty of mounting flexibility given the metal arm, tripod threads, and hot shoe mount. Product is a delight. Unfortunately, my first unit died after 6 months, just refused to power on. I've seen a few others mention this issue, so I worry this quality might come with a limited lifespan. INSSTRO seller provided excellent support and was willing to replace the unit. But docking 1 star here for potential reliability concerns on the P1.

Mind-blowing, very powerful light
If you are looking for a small compact and bright light don't look any further. When I first received the Boling bl-p1 light I was overly impressed with the package, is looks sophisticated and expensiveand it was very well secure. Is fits great and a light stand and it includes the adapter that screws right on top, it does offer a range of adjustment on the position of the light. When I turned it I was blown away at the brightness of this little compact light.the lighting effect is amazing can be used for pretty much anything camera lighting effect, video and even parties. Is bright enough that illuminated my back yard offering a great range if colors and creating an atmosphere. I am in love with this product I have been able to create some amazing effects for my engagement session and birthday sessions all thanks to this light.

Bon produit, mauvaise livraison.

It does not work
Unfortunately the product description does not correspond to what it is described. Simply it does not work, be careful with non working led, as soon as you receive just test it if it has any failure, I didn't had the opportunity to check it within the available time frame for the returns and now I have a non-functional device.
