PROSCAN Sylvania SRCD243 Portable CD Player with AM/FM Radio, Boombox (Silver/Black)

This was my second boombox in five months. The first one was purchased at a department store in March,2019. Three months later the slide control bar did not work. It would not move to the CD side. I returned the boombox with a full refund. The Sylvania Portable Boombox has been wonderful! The stereo sound is 100% better than my last one. I am in an Assisted Living Facility , and we use the boombox for entertainment on our porches and inside our activities area. Everyone has enjoyed this new one. You will be very satisfied with this purchase.

Order arrived speedily. I’m very pleased with this product. It’s a good value for the price and has very good sound.

Very disappointed. Stopped playing CDs one month after purchase, giving error message "No". The manufacturer's warranty is a whopping 90 days, so I'd better contact them soon to see if they'll do anything to make it right. Edit: CD player started working again, so I've upped my rating. Still doesn't feel very hardy, but it works fine.

Despite the warnings in other reviews, I bought this for its simplicity, price point, and charming color. I was particularly excited because it was toted as being CD-R compatible. Initially, I was pleased. The first time, I played a brand new CD, and the player worked great. The second time, I had a far different experience. I put in a different cd. It played the first song. Then, the numbers changed as though it was progressing through the play list, but the disc simply continued to spin with no additional songs playing or sound. I tried 5 more CDs and had the same experience. They would either play one song and spin without playing more or spin without playing at all. These were all purchased CDs. So, I have essentially purchased a radio with a non-working cd player. Needless to say, I wish that I had heeded the reviews and not wasted my money. I plan to contact the company. Horribly disappointed with this product.

This boombox is smaller than expected but has a great sound!

Pretty good for this price and not a bunch of complicated buttons and functions. Easy for a old timer

Overly sensitive to movement. We have an old house so walking around the 70 year old hardwood can make little shakes that make this skip much more than our last player, but otherwise it does the job. This has been a problem from the start. Then about two months in, it fell maybe a foot and a half when I was moving it and the whole front plate popped off. With some manipulation I got it popped back on and it didn't change the function of it at all, but it seemed pretty cheaply made.

Happiness has been made. Thank you. Can listen to music all day lone.

We got this little stereo for our daughters six birthday, as she is really into music, and we figured giving her a bit of independence was a good idea. She loves it! She uses it practically every day, and is now into the idea of collect of CDs. I wouldn’t think this is the sort of radio you would want to buy for someone over the age of 10-12, but it works fantastically as a gift for kids. Pros: It works well - she’s able to put in and take out her cds no problem, it’s straightforward and to the point like an good CD player should be. It’s also loud! It’s got some decent kick too it, the bass isn’t the best as to be expected, but it works well enough to not be grating and annoying. Also, the built in radio is great - she’s been having fun channel surfing. Cons: Could use a little more bass, but overall for a gift for my little one at the price it is, I’m happy with it.

We loved this CD player when we first got it for our son as a Christmas gift but it completely stopped working shortly thereafter. We gifted one to a friend that also broke within weeks. We have tried a few times to get it working again but it is truly broken!

Very cheesy but works

This little boom box has great sound. It will skip if bumped but otherwise is very good.

I have the identical unit built in 2011, but the CD player failed. I replaced with this one, manufactured in 2024. Basically the same but the older model was better: - Had a bass boost option - Tuning dial was very visible on the top of the unit, showed FM stereo light - Had the same look as shown on the web site, with very visible control buttons. The 2024 version has black plastic control area and you can't easily make out these controls. Obviously, there were some cost reductions over the years that, in my opinion, made the player worse. But for the price, still acceptable.
