Black & Decker power sander review.
This Black & Decker sander came in very useful. I've had no problems loading paper from the Dollar tree to Sherwin-Williams. The dust collector works good and the Sanders grip leaves vibration minimal. I was surprised. I haven't bought Black & Decker before though I have some old pass me down drills that are Black and Decker that still work too. Anyways the sander was a good value for the money which was what I was looking for at the time. It quickly got through the edge of the spray paint that they painted over stickers that I needed to get off. The sander has plenty of power for it it got right to it. The design is ergonomically friendly and vibration friendly and the speed of the sander is good. I'm impressed I didn't expect it to be this good especially at the price point. I would recommend the sander to anybody and have to my sister who refinishes furniture & such.

its a good little unit
my daughter sanded an entire living room of hardwood with it and it's still running. i didn't have the heart to tell her they rent big machines for that. i prefer the square palm sanders to the round because they take the standard sand paper sheets that we all have tons of in the shop. i don't use the paper punch/dust catcher feature...my work is generally exterior and rough so no need for dust control.

Amazon is the best!!
Black & Decker has always been my choice when purchasing hand tools. This is a well made sander that will last a long, long time no matter how many times it is used. The low price is another benefit as is the next day shipping. Highly recommended!!

with that said it is very easy to use
That is a very small palm sized orbital sander. However, with that said it is very easy to use. It is a good electrical cord power tool that serves its purpose as a handy-dandy little palm sander.Take note: It is not very powerful. It does not have a lot of oomph or power to it to do heavy work, but it is good for light to medium jobs.Pros: The great thing about the Black and Decker 1/4 sheet orbital sander is that I can get any kind of square/rectangle sheet of sand paper, cut it into quarters (or size it to the sander pad), and then use it on this machine! It is great that I do not have to buy special sanding pads or papers for this machine. Any sanding paper will work as long as the user creates holes in the paper with the provided hole-puncher for the machine to collect the dust. The dust catcher is tiny but it works as long as you do not press down too hard. If you are putting too much pressure on the machine, the dust vacuum effect will suffer and dust will not be suctioned into the bag. It will seem that the bag does not work. However, if you do not press down hard enough it will not do major sanding. I have tried with 120 and 100 grit paper and only got slight sanding effects. It was more like coarse buffing.I have also used this without punching holes in the paper (so the suction did not work to catch the dust) but it sanded fine without any issues.Cons: The cord is not very long. So the user will have to work in small areas or with an extension cord. The picture is true and correct but I didn't realize how small it would be. It fits in the palm of your hand, and it is super light. That can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your needs. Light= Light Work. This is OK for small work. Sure, I am happy to have it but it was not exactly what I was expecting. I can certainly say that this is not for refinishing hardwood floor work. Yes, it can get into inconspicuous corners, but this tool is best for buffing or light sanding.I may find this to be useful for doors, molding, and trim work.Update: Summer 2016: It has been most useful to sand smooth rough cut saw wood planks and smoothing out repurposed pallet wood with the right grit sand paper. Conclusion: for the price it’s a good value for light quick tasks!

For small projects
This was a replacement for a similar product but there was a difference that I’ll need to adjust my thinking to.Mainly, the old B&D had an on/off button on the front of the sander. It was either on, or off. This one, has an on/off lever on the back behind where your palm holds it. You can use it by just pressing down on the sander, but as soon as you adjust your grip, it will go off. If you want it to stay on you need to switch the lever on while you’re holding the palm control down. Just a little less convenient than the old one, but if you are sanding spots here and there, it could be convenient not having to switch it on & off all the time. I tend to sand large areas, not spots.
