Her subject this time is Italy itself, and jewelry of the past 100 years or so. She reaches out to the great Italian fashion photographers, the jewelers and their families and the history of her nation to bring us a unique perspective on her nation's adornment. Decade by decade we linger over the influential jewelers, see how fashion editors and photographers envisioned their work, and build a knowledge of each person's style. We see the impact of World War II and then the rise of Italy as a great international beacon of style and wellspring of creativity. Farneti Cera even shares a glimpse of new designers she thinks we will all want to know about.As a past WWD fashion editor, I lusted after the fashion shots and the jewels created for Italy's great fashion houses such as Armani. I didn't know that Gian Franco Ferré actually made jewelry even before he turned to fashion and became one of the world's top couturiers. My favorite piece in this book is a self-portrait brooch Ferré made while still in architecture school. To die for!In Farneti Cera's hands, gorgeous jewelry is not just eye candy, though it certainly is that. Like a great jeweler, she creates settings that enhance the gems so they speak to us across the decades.

This book made me START wearing my fashion jewellery again --but now with so much more confidence.Nowhere is fashion more expressed than in jewellery.. I highly recommend this book!

Discreto, belle foto, ma per principianti nel vintage, o per trovare qualcosa che gli altri libri hanno omesso. Lo consiglio a chi vuole iniziare a collezionare, poi ci sono libri molto più approfonditi in materia.
