Speedy Sweep Cordless Sweeper

We bought a Speedy Sweep at a home products show. Brought it home and plugged in the charger for 4 hours to get a green light indicating the charge was complete. First disappointment was that the sweeper could not be used on some short cut pile carpets - it could not be pushed forward against the rotation of the brush. It could be pulled backward, but that is not a convenient way to clean anything. The sweeper operated fine on hardwood floors and on some low, tight loop pile carpets and seemed to pick up all visible debris except crumbs close to the wall or furniture, obviously because the brush cannot extend to the very edge of the sweeper frame. The second disappointment was that the battery was defective and would not hold a charge overnight, much less several weeks as touted by the salesman. We will be sending in for a new battery, but this is not the sort of problem you expect with a device costing $129 at the trade show. With a good battery, this product would be acceptable for limited use if you primarily have hardwood and tile floors, and maybe Berber or other low, tight looped carpet. We have not made any evaluation of how clean the sweeper will actually get a hardwood floor, and I will file on this later if possible.UPDATE: After using and recharging this product three times, it now seems to be holding a charge, so it won't be necessary to return the battery after all. I also discovered that the problem of sweeping short pile carpet or area rugs could be reduced by reversing the handle on the sweeper so that the rotation of the brush worked with the nap rather than against it. Also found that the sweeper worked ok on our wall to wall cut pile carpet which is thick and does not have an obvious nap direction. A remaining negative is that sweeping hardwood floors picks up crumbs and such, but leaves a good bit of fine dirt behind which you can see if you go over the swept floor with a cloth floor wipe.I have upgraded the device to three stars as being ok for quick pickup of crumbs as stuff. I expect the sweeper would work pretty well picking up pet hair, but since we don't have any pets, I couldn't make this evaluation.

It’s easy to use but have to careful with the brush that a small yellow part at the bottom corner easy to break.

Hi I bought this and it broke the first time I used it. I was using it to pick up potting soil and the on/ off switch quit working. The potting soil got into the switch and messed it up some how. And so I packed it up and sent it back 4 weeks ago and haven't received my money back yet.

Works great! I've been using it on wood floors. The battery lasts a really long time.

If you choose to purchase this product, please read the instructions. They clearly state, "Battery charging - Charge the battery for 10 hours before initial use." I did exactly what my instructions said and am extremely happy to report that after two full years using this great household tool I have not had one single issue with it. It holds a charge for 2-3 days easy and vacuums every surface I have (tile, hardwood, linoleum, laminate and rugs) except a high pile carpet in one bedroom. I LOVE it for area rugs - so much more convenient than dragging out the big guns. Sure it won't get all the nitty-gritty crumbs residing in corners and whatnot, but this machine is not intended for heavy duty cleaning either. It's intended to quick clean ups, spills, etc. around the home on a daily basis. Don't depend on this for deep monthly cleaning but in betweens, it's fantastic. I have two pugs at home. Anyone that knows pugs knows that they shed like no other animal on the planet. I use my Speedy Sweep every day and the easy to empty dirt tray is convenient to dump directly into the garbage. I like ti so much, i've given two away as gifts!

I've had this since my son was 8 months old. Its been a little over a year now and from picking up vegetable straws, rice grains to bread crumbs or what used to be food, this thing works great! I'm a bit of a neat freak so now whenever his cousins or friends come over, I'm not too worried if they eat in the family room or the toy room. I use this everywhere; wood floors, carpet, bathroom floors even the garage!It doesn't pick up the fine dust particles so if you're looking for something to replace your household vacuum, this isn't it.My battery lasts a week or 2 before I have to charge it again. The whole thing comes apart which makes cleaning really easy.I'm really happy with it and I would definitely recommend this.

Bought the Speedy Sweeper as a housewarming present for my son and his wife's two-bedroom condo and it worked really well right out of the box. According to them, it worked even better than advertised!! What's more, they have a cat and the second brush for pets worked great!
