I've had my Guardian for 8 years and it works so well. I keep it clean and change filters on time. I highly recommend these if you have allergies, respiratory issues, live in a smaller place and cook often.

Works much better than knock off brands.

Love these filters! I only purchase OEM GermGuardian replacement filters, because I find the off-band filters use lower quality materials, and the pre-filters do not catch as many debris, which causes you to have to replace them sooner. However THESE OEM GermGuardian, while the pre-filter is thinner than off brand, they last longer, and catch a lot more hair/dust/fibers. As long as you clean the Pre-Filter once a month, you really do get 6 months out of the actual filter. If you have a cat, this is a MUST!

The machine will show a warning telling you to change the filter. If you have one of these in-house, the job will be done in ten minutes. They can be vacuumed, extending the life of the filter and making your life easier.

I bought the GermGuardian Air Purifier in anticipation of adopting a cat. I have it running on low all day, every day - so I've had to change the filter sooner than the estimated 6 months. In my case, I usually have to change it after 4 or 5 months and I've been using the GermGuardian for 2 years now. My husband and I have allergies to dust and dander, so this filter has helped tremendously in keeping that under control. I also love to cook, so when I'm making a particularly aromatic dish, I turn my air purifier on the highest setting while cracking the window open slightly. Yes, the replacement filters are expensive, but it's a small price to pay for cleaner, fresher smelling air. The difference in air quality is noticeable when you contrast the moment the 'change the filter' indicator comes on, to the hour after replacing it with a new one. To put it into perspective as to how many impurities have been captured by the filter, have a look at the comparison photo of an old vs new filter (the old, dirty filter is bagged in plastic as to not allow the dust to escape). It's alarming to know what we would be breathing in without the use of this air purifier filter.

new filters wont fit, 2 in a row I wasted my money on, avoid germ guardian products cheap junk. tossed the whole air purifier and got a better one from another brand

There was note with the product mentioning that with the new model, the filter might be a tighter fit but it wouldn't alter the performance. I can barely close the unit with this new filter and it's so tight I fear the plastic bits holding it all together will break. Worse, because the unit doesn't fully close anymore, there is a constant high pitch whistling noise. The air filter is in my bedroom, it's going to be unusable. What's the point of buying a genuine GermGuardian filter if it doesn't fit? I could have bought a knock off for half the price and the same crappy fit/quality. Disappointing.
