Review: Ideal for my compact pickup ... - As others have commented, the Waypoint is an exceptionally bright, compact source of light. Seems tight and well-put-together in all regards. I am sure it would be right at home in a law enforcement or rescue context. So far I am quite happy. I will place it immediately between the shifter and front seat of my pickup, where it will replace a Brinkmann Blue Max Marine Spotlight that has been there across two trucks, many replacement batteries, and 16 years. Because of its size, this light will fit the space BETTER. I doubt that I'll have any use for the "mounting bracket" that is made of black plastic and only provides minimal protection and support. (Wouldn't want to screw it down anywhere -- looks like the plastic would flex too much and maybe rip if you pushed the lamp in too firmly or pulled it out fast. However, the light can "wear" the mounting molding like a jacket -- at least this may keep the lens clean and un-scuffed.) There are two steel wire loops on top of the unit (I suppose for a shoulder strap -- unit is light enough that this will never be an option I purchase.) However, the wrist lanyard and the rubberized tube through which it is threaded are a nice touch. I will definitely use these, as well as the cord-lock that cinches the lanyard and keeps it from sliding over your hand. The Brinkmann was unbelievably bright and penetrating (although it got quite hot and had a short use time -- about 40 minutes -- on a full charge). I mention this because I have already used the Streamlight for about two hours on medium brightness and there has been no discernible reduction in its brightness. It also gets a bit warm, but NOTHING like the halogen bulb of its predecessor. This unit is much lighter, nearly as bright as the Brinkmann, water-proof, and offers a brightness-selector switch, also usable to control battery life. Most of these features are commonplace now, but were unavailable when the Blue Max was bought; I like all of them. Manufacturer's packaging is "minimalist," but sufficient to protect contents. 110-V charger is small, unobtrusive, and functions well. Instructions said to expect a four-hour initial charge time; the green fully-charged indicator lit after about 1 hour. The flip-up top handle doubles as an adjustable base if you invert the unit. Adjustments on it are close together, giving you many angles from which to choose. The pivot for this base is TIGHT and seems as if it will not slip from one angle to another. I was surprised by the brevity of the owner's manual -- 1 sheet, glossy, folded into a "pamphlet" containing information in multiple languages. I wonder about the Li battery(ies). Nothing in the manual about replacement, and I tend to keep lights for decades (note beginning of review). A factory-replacement only part? I guess I'll find out after about 700 of the 800 promised recharges, LOL. On the whole, this has earned each of its 5 stars. Goodbye, "Old Blue Eye!"
Review: Worth the price - I own a log cabin in the deep woods of Vermont in a 20 acre field. Over the last many years, I bought low end spotlights and they would burn out, feel flimsy, and the light production was mid-level at best. I decided to purchase the streamlight spotlight and wow, was I impressed. It cleared across my 20 acre field with ease. This light came with a wall mount, charging cord, and the spotlight . I was like a kid in a candy shop running out to the porch to use it every 15 minutes! I’ve never seen such clarity at midnight before! Super impressed and excited to go back to camp to use it again!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a thousand Lumen flashlight or not I'm reading very many conflicting answers does anyone know for sure**
A: There are two different versions of the Streamlight Waypoint Spotlight, "rechargeable" and "battery/12V powered". The light output from the "rechargeable" version is greater, as is the rated light beam throw distance (but not by much). The key difference is likely the "rechargeable" version's light beam has a slightly broader pattern, sort of a combination spot/flood style. This is where the greater lumen output goes. It could be an advantage if you want more light in the foreground. The more "spotlight" pattern the battery/12V powered Waypoint appears to deliver would light up the subject, but leave the surrounding area darker. As for the various levels of lumen output, each light has three different output power settings so each light has multiple lumen ratings. The Streamlight website has these specifications, as well as estimated run times using the differs settings for both lights. A key difference is the battery/12V version has High, Low and Emergency Signal options, while the "rechargeable" version has High, Medium and Low options (no strobe). Another key difference is the battery version can also be run off a 12V power source (with no drain on the batteries), while the "rechargeable" version must be recharged (estimated at about 4 hours) before it will emit light again.

**Q: Is there a 12v charger available?**
A: Yes...streamlight 44923Available at amazon

**Q: does it come with a 12V charger, or can one be bought**
A: It inky comes with a 110v charger, but the charge lasts for a long time. I found this to be the best light of the two I own it find navigation buoy at long distances. I wouldn't take a night voyage without this light.

**Q: I am looking for a VERY POWERFUL light to find my dogs on 3 acres, or to scare off mountain lions in our yard...will this work?**
A: I do not know if it works on mountain lions, but it does on other kinds of dangerous wild game. Once, i was crawling through the African bush and suddenly found myself staring into the cold, dead eyes of a dead rhino. Another rhino was doing unspeakable things to the dead rhino. And then, the not-dead rhino saw me and froze, a snarl starting to spread across its rough hide that had never seen moisterizer. I slowly slid my hand around to my backpack for my Streamlight 44910 Waypoint (yellow). Sensing time was running out on my life, I clicked on the three-stage switch to strobe, slowly pointed my Streamlight 44910 Waypoint (yellow) and unleashed hell. Happily, the battery still held a charge after 2,658 hours of use. After selling the tusk from the dead rhino, I plan to buy another Streamlight 44910 Waypoint (yellow) when my check arrives from the King of China. Yes, I can recommend this product.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Farm Approved flashlight
*by S***B on May 14, 2014*

I live way out in the country on a 50-acre ranch. The area around the houses and outbuildings is at least 2-acres. On a moonless night, it is pitch black as far as you can see. I have searched for new-born calves at night in the middle of 12-acre pastures. I've fixed fence-lines at midnight in the rain, my work lit by my Tahoe headlights. I've used Maglites for years, recently stepping up my game with small(er) Streamlight and Coast LED products. Flashlights see hard-use on my ranch. I just tested this thing out and it is flat-out amazing. A literally stunning beam of light. It lights up things at a quarter-mile like daylight. It throws a tight beam further than I can see clearly, this spotlight is better than my vision. 5-hour run-time on high-power, which is considerably more than most hand-held flashlights. I own ponds and this flashlight floats. Feels like a very solid piece in the hand, yet it is a relatively light weight. I love how simple it is to use. It stays on when you pull the trigger, goes back off with another little squeeze. There is a little switch which sets what you want the light to do, strobe, high, or low. Three modes, one switch, one trigger. Nothing fancy, nothing to program or learn. Basic, intuitive and very, very functional. The low-power setting and built-in aiming stand would be perfect for fixing a flat tire or repairing a fence in the dark. Perhaps walking between my buildings. The high-power setting is perfect for long-distance sight and searching. Outrageously impressive performance. The strobe might be good for signaling low flying aircraft? Cool feature, not sure I'll need it, but it's certainly not a negative to have included. Ideal flashlight if you really need to see a long way at night and have to cover a good bit of distance. Add in Streamlights reputation for quality, warranty, and the current 4.9 star Amazon rating, and I could not be happier nor more impressed. I will be recommending this light to friends.
