Visioneer Mobility Mobile Color Cordless Scanner 300 DPI with Smartphone SD Card or USB Capabilities (MOBILE-SCAN)

I travel alot. I handle insurance sales and request for legal updates for trusts and Powers of Attorney, etc. I utilize the visioneer through my Droid phone to scan the documents into my phone. Then I use a free application to merge PDF files into one file and send via email to my back office. All of my applications (some are 10+ pages) need to be reviewed before I leave the client's home. The legal updates require copies of the old documents (sometimes 28+ pages). Before I got the Visioneer, I was using a fax-copy machine (large and 12+lbs). Now I can use this easy to carry scanner without a computer, without a large fax machine and without having to use lots of ink and copy paper instead. When I used the fax machine in a client's home, I had to find an electrical outlet and a phone jack close together. This is not always easy. Now I can handle everything at their kitchen table. I have done so well with this that my district manager and other sales people in my office have already bought one for their use as well. Now others in my company are purchasing the visioneer to work with their phones instead of the old, heavy fax machine-copier. I used it at my family reunion to scan in old photos and they turned out well too! I use my visioneer with the data cable from the visioneer to my droid. Other's in my office have the apple phones and use either the eye fi or the camera cord to work with the visioneer. So far, we are all happy. The first charge lasted over a month with my using it to scan and transmitt over 200 pages. With the USB aux power cord, I can even recharge using the USB outlet in my car if needed. So far, 1 full charge every month seems to work great. One con - you can not see the pages as they transfer to your phone. You have to go into the SD card file after transmission to verify receipt of the pages. I wish there was a way to see the pages as they transmit, but I have learned to work with that and it hasn't been a problem. Just don't unplug the scanner from your phone for at least 1 1/2 mins after the last page has gone through the scanner. This will insure that all pages are in the SD card memory. If you need to scan on the go - from your car or from out of office locations - this battery powered scanner is great. I mainly use this for business and scan using B & W PDF for documents. I love not having to lug around the large fax-copier. I love not having to move furniture and clients' homes to find phone jacks and electrical outlets and I love how fast the scanner is compared to the older fax machine I have. If you travel for business and need copies of documents/ppwk or application or even business cards and you would like to utilize your phone instead of computer or ipad - this scanner is great. It does work with the computer and ipad; I just hate to carry phone plus everything else.

Software doesn't work as described. Scanner scans documents just fine, not totally impressed with the scan of pictures. I haven't seen where you can adjust settings on scanning, software included doesn't recognize the scanner. Have read the instructions and installed as it says to, it still doesn't doesn't recognize the scanner.

I love this little scanner. I bought it to scan a large amount of old tax records, documents and receipts. I have a scanner attached to my printer which requires me to stand up and put in each document. The one thing my printer/scanner does that this does not is have an automatic sheet feeder which will put a multi-page document in one file. This little scanner creates a file for each piece of paper. I have not connected directly to my computer, I just use a flash drive plugged into the back. Each item you scan creates a new file in numerical sequence and even when you shut it off and start again later, the file names will continue in sequence. The only downfall is that once you move the files from the flash drive and then plug it back into the scanner, it will start the file names back to 0001 again. Also, if the top edge of the paper is raggedy, it will sometimes hang-up. It's easy enough to pull it out and smooth the top of the paper edge out. The quality seem to be good and you can choose Black/White or Color and choose jpg or pdf format. It says to lay the scanner flat, which I did, but my 4 yr old grandson was helping and wiggling the table alot, and the quality was still good. The battery life is pretty good. The first day after charging for the recommended 8 hours first, I scanned non stop for about 6 hours. You can use it plugged in also.

I have to start this review by stating, my wife would give this SIX stars of Amazon supported such a rating. She absolutely loves this little, fast, portable scanner. One of the tasks she's saddled herself with -- and the reason I bought her this portable scanner -- is the quest to archive her entire family's existence. To that end, she has our home office filled with large boxes of old, old photo albums. Additionally, she will be going "on site" to one of her great aunt's houses to scan photos that are (for some reason) not allowed to leave the premises. We thought about bringing a full-size flatbed scanner, but that seemed impractical. Plus, at about 30 seconds per photo, it would take her many, many hours. On a whim, I picked up the Visioneer Mobility cordless scanner. This thing is absolutely amazing and ultra-convenient. In just a few evenings, in front of the TV watching "The Big Bang Theory" reruns (recall that this is a cordless, COMPUTER-less scanner), she managed to archive over 2,500 photos from my side of the family. Sitting tethered to a computer desk with a flatbed scanner, this accomplishment would have easily taken her ten times as long. The photos are all scanned at 300 DPI, and unprocessed, meet or exceed the quality of my $400 Epson flatbed scanner. With the supplied 2GB SD card, we calculated that you could fit ~12,000 4x6 scanned prints before needing to offload them to a PC or file server. My wife has thanked me at least a dozen times for this handy, dandy little scanner (our agreed-upon limit is three "thanks" per gift), so in retrospect, the Visioneer Mobility mobile cordless scanner has been better received than any previous gift I've given, exceeding the appreciation of diamond earrings and expensive French perfume. If only I knew the secret to a woman's heart earlier ... If you have mass quantities of photos or documents to scan, pick up this scanner right now. Even if you already have a high quality flatbed scanner, you'll find that this quick, handy, portable scanner will soon become the primary/exclusive method of importing photos and documents.

My first Amazon review. Bought one of these, and installed the software onto my PC to connect to the scanner. The scanner worked well, until the software decided to upgrade the scanners firmware. After this the scanner would not work. The lights were on, but nobody was home. Maybe I had been unlucky and there was a fault in the scanner . . . . Amazon exchanged the scanner, and I installed the replacement scanner - and it worked. Again the scanner software decreed that a firmware upgrade was needed. Again, the scanner dropped dead, as soon as the new firmware was installed. So - if you want a cheap mobile scanner, consider this device. If you planning to get a scanner to connect to your PC - don't buy this one.

Makes very good color PDF scans. Photo scans are pretty good and quick.

Bought this to become paparless & to have an office on-the-go and this unit is by far the best one for the amount paid and after having used 2 other models for comparable price range, the scan to sd card is by far the best way to go.
