What is the difference between liqui moly 5171 and 5169? i have a mercedes 320e bluetec

It's a 2-part system - the 5169 is applied first by spray nozzle and the 5171 is applied secondly as an activator. Its used for the DPF filter. Depending on your year of E320, it may or may not have a DPF filter.

is this something you put in your gas tank or is a wash like you have to take off the filter

You have to spray into the filter directly. Look on their web site. They have instructional videos
