Update (1/26/2020): I've been pleased with the grab bars so I bought 4 more so that I can grab them with both hands for most of the length of my basement stairs. I bought two of these 12" grab bars for my basement stairway. I'm tall and at the top of the stairs I would need to lean over about 9" in order to grasp the existing stair rail. Once I am down a step or two, it's not an issue because I can reach back slightly to grasp the rail. Going up also is not much of a problem because I can grasp the door frame at the top. I experimented and decided to place the grab bar at about a 30 degree angle to the horizontal with the low end towards the top of the stairs. That makes it easy to grab with the natural angle of my arm and hand. I placed the second grab bar similarly at the landing where the stairs turn 90 degrees a couple of steps from the bottom. The grab bar is lighter than I expected but feels sturdy. Installation is easy even though there are no instructions. You need to snap the cosmetic covers off the mounting flanges, slide the covers over the bar, bolt the flanges to the bar, screw the flanges to the wall, and slide the covers over the flanges. The grab bars come with mounting screws and drywall anchors. I would suggest that you screw at least one end to a stud rather than using the drywall anchors. I got lucky, there were convenient studs at both ends of both of my grab bars. I'm not sure how they came up with the 12" measurement. They are about 13" between the outer edges of the flanges, 11" between the centers of the flanges, and 10" in the grab area. The bar itself is about 1" in diameter.

The Zuext handrail came on time. The finished product after installation was good. Sturdy and very functional. This issue is that the instructions leave out a few key instructions to make it functional and easy to install. The base plate needs to be bolted on the bar using the provided bolt. Rotate the base plate so the holes are easily accessible when putting in the screws. Obvious choices are a hole at the top and two on the sides, or two on one side. Remember to put the covers on the rail before screwing on the base plates and they are facing the right direction. While anchors are provided, it also says to drill into wood. I didn’t use the anchors and purchased slightly long screws to firmly anchor. Locate the stud in the wall. Remember that the stud is probably only 1.5 inches wide. You may only be able to get 2 screws in the wood but that is OK. I installed my bar vertically so both ends are in a stud. If installed at an angle studs are generally at 16 in on center.

I got this for my mom to help in the shower. It was very easy to install, the hardest part for me was probably drilling through the tile. I didn't have the right drill bit but I was finally able to get through and secure the bar. So far it is working very well and holding up great. The bar has a light feel to it, but once in the wall it is very sturdy. It has a real nice look to it as well. I would recommend if you need extra support to help in the shower. Way better than those suction cup handles that always fall down and nearly give you a heart attack at 2 a.m.

I’m so glad I ordered these grab bars for my Mum, they’re proving to be so supportive for her that I’ve used them throughout my home! We installed them in the shower and ordered another two boxes to put up in different areas. Easy to hold onto she now feels able to safely move while she holds onto one of these. The couple of times that she fell she simply crawled over to one of these supportive grab bars and lifts herself up. I can’t recommend these highly enough! 🙂

These inexpensive grab bars were a little shorter than I was expecting. Getting them installed on a wall with standard 16" center studs was possible but I was only able to get one screw into each stud. They should have been a little longer as the more expensive ones I have purchased allow at least two screws per stud. They work find on vertical installation but not so well horizontally.

Handles are very nice and sturdy.

I purchased this outside our shower in our master bathroom. I’ll start by saying it does the job. It is bolted to the wall and can use it as a safety handle. It is definitely on the thinner side. I do use it but I am careful when doing so. I believe that I could bend this if I tried. That does concern me if I am falling and need to grab it if I loose by balance. The caps also did not fit well. I tried to make them fit better by bending them. They did okay. It ultimately I used some Alien tape to make them stay. Would I buy again? Probably not. I’d prefer something that is a little stronger.

These are very sturdy handles. I have one in shower and one near toilet. Love the black matte.

This product is very flimsy ... upon inspection of handles I found diameter of handles are very small and narrow ..this is for my elderly mother and I wouldn’t have the confidence to install for her safety ..contacted company as well to return ...no response
