Removing the photocell in this unit would render it non-functional. Not trying to be a jackass, but if all you want to do is control it with a switch, as if it had no photocell, you could cover the photocell with black electrical tape. I realize that is Rube Goldberg hillbilly solution. But I am a retired electrician and full-time hillbilly, and I have had to do some Appalachian engineering on photocell-controlled lights before. The brightness is very impressive, with the sharp cut-off required by city code. The unit seems well-made and sturdy so I am hopeful about reliability over the long term. I expect to order additional units for other deck locations. ### ⭐ 1/2 have failed in less than 5 years *by L***R on January 14, 2025* At the end of 2019 we purchased 12 fixtures and over the years they have been failing. Seven of the twelve have failed so far. The fixtures were installed by my company of professional electricians. We are lighting retrofitters for multifamily so we have installed thousands of fixtures. The life of this fixture is rated at 50,000 hours and they are failing at 12,000 to 32,000. All photocells were changed to new LED compatible photocells when the fixures were installed to ensure they are not on during the day. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice working light *by D***E on December 3, 2022* This light is good.
