Yes I would recommend this to a friend.
I am using the old, original, high quality wooden cabinet Bose 301 bookshelf speakers with the "Pyle Home PTAU45 Mini 2x120 Watt Stereo Power Amplifier."As a practical matter, for me it's a perfect match, because even though the amp is "rated" for 4 ohm speakers, these speakers are 8 ohms, and they work just fine. I did notice a slight hum even with no audio input cables connected, but more about that later. The published specifications for this amp are a little ambiguous if not conflicting, but my guess is that I am getting at least 12 watts RMS per channel. If that doesn't sound like much to you, just let me say that for a small system, that is HUGE. The key word here is "RMS."My immediate goal is to use my 301's and this amp as "computer speakers," so I am running it at low volume and the blue LED meter lights usually don't even light up.I've found that because many audio recordings are overproduced and synthesized, that no matter how good your sound system, a lot of what is sold as "music" sounds really bad for the simple reason of "garbage in, garbage out," and the better your audio system, worse it sounds. So to properly test this amp or any amp, you need to use a good recording to begin with. I first went over to [...] and tried some of their lab tricks. Results: pristine at my volume level. After that I opened up Windows Media Player Internet Radio, and in search of a clean source, went to "Radio Mozart" and streamed from the Internet. Results: Pristine. Exquisite audio detail at all audio frequencies--and in perfect stereo, the way it was meant to be heard. And, also perfect choir audio with human voices.Turning the volume control up to 9 am (1/4th) level, it sounded even louder and better, and I even got a little flash of the blue LEDs on the front panel of the amplifier. Then, putting on my power saw ear protectors, I advanced the volume control up to the half way mark, and still, it sounded great (that is nightclub auditorium level, you know). If you ever run this thing a full volume, you are absolutely nuts. I tried it, and it didn't blow my 301's.So far, my testing had been done with the bass and treble controls "flat," er, pointing straight up the middle. Not satisfied with sampling the highbrow stuff, I pulled out my CD of the classic "Bass Invaders: Lost in Bass," and played (using Window Media Player) Track 9, "Hip Hop Bass [Sample Symphony movement 48k]." Well, OMG, I swear I that I heard pristine audio detail that I'd never heard before -- all distortion free. Not having a powered subwoofer handy (the cheap ones are all junk, anyway), I decided to "make" my own subwoofer by turning the bass knob on the amplifier all the way up and adjusting my Realtek HD Audio Manager to "Environment: None" and a "Custom Equalizer Setting" of mine (with 31 thru 125 Hz set toward Bass, 250 to 2 kHz set slightly above midrange, and 4k thru 16kHz set to slightly below midrange). Result? Success !Absolutely NO SUBWOOFER NEEDED. And perfect sound. If I ever do that with the speakers in the front yard, the neighbors are going to start looking for a low rider in a car !Bottom line: With the "Pyle Home PTAU45 Mini 2x120 Watt Stereo Power Amplifier" being purchased for less than $50.00 delivered (using promotions), from CarAudioDeals through the Amazon web site, and with my old Bose 301 direct/reflecting bass reflex speakers that I bought at a flea market probably 15 years ago, I have the purr-fect small audio system for about $100 total price. And for my needs as concerns a room stereo (not surround) system, I don't think I could exceed its "capability" without spending about $1200 for a new amp and speakers. All in all, my little "system" here is BETTER than the control board studio monitor setup that we had a the radio station where I worked many years ago.More good news is that for me, this amp runs only slightly warm to the touch, exactly as should be expected. What I haven't covered is (a) the USB stick player, (b) the "voiceover" paging capability (music level said to auto adjust downward when you page over a microphone), and (c) the two audio jacks on the back that connect a recorder (I would call them "Line Out,"don't know if they carry any hum).Anyway I will have to let you figure those out for yourself. So, don't wait, buy now !================================TECHNICAL JARGON================================The goal here is to use this setup as "computer speakers." So out of the box, I connected the speakers to the amp, plugged in in, and turned it on. The first thing that I noticed was a very low 60 cycle AC hum coming through the speakers. (There is NO audible hum with my old Kenwood DC-20P amp.)I was worried, as I had no audio cables connected to the amp so I shouldn't be hearing any hum. Upon further investigation, I found that the hum did NOT increase even when I turned the volume up to maximum. But I did find that the hum does increase when I turn the Bass control toward max, and seems to disappear when I turn the Bass control to minimum.Normally, you are not going to be noticing it except during periods of "dead air," like, maybe, if you had a silent period during a classical music performance. This little amp is nicely compact and heavy. I popped the cover and can tell you that the main reason for the heft is a massive power transformer. Yes, this unit has an old fashioned power supply, as it should... not a switching power supply. (The date on the the transformer in my unit is 2-26-2012, so I know my amp is of recent manufacture.) The filter capacitor in the power supply is a 4700 micro-farad unit, and this is good. Too bad it doesn't completely filter out the hum. There is only one secondary winding on the transformer, labeled as 17 volts, and it connects to the circuit board via a little white detachable connector. Looks to me like if I have a problem with the "hum," all I have to do I go over to Radio Shack, purchase a similar 2 pin connector, and run a couple of wires from the two printed circuit board pins to a car battery or to a clean 14 to 16 volt power supply. And that's cool. Looks looks this prospect opens up the amp possibilities for battery powered outdoor, boating, or camping use without an inverter. If the unit is using a full wave rectifier circuit, it won't mind the DC in, and if it is using a half wave rectifier circuit and doesn't work with the external power, all I should have to do is reverse the polarity (switch the + and - wires) to the circuit board pins and it should work just fine. [Come to think of it, it must be a half wave rectifier power supply because I saw only two wires emerging from the secondary winding of the power transformer instead of 3 wires, so I don't think the secondary winding on the transformer has a center tap which I believe would be required for a "full wave" rectifier circuit."]Whatever.I am sure that most Joe Sixpack customers will never notice the very low hum, especially with the windows of the apartment rattling and the neighbors pounding on the walls. And it's a safe bet that nobody at the church or the prom will notice it either.FIVE OUT OF SIX STARS FOR THIS LITTLE AMPLIFIER.UPDATE:The AC hum took over this Amp and it also developed some input problems.I sent it back to the dealer and he cheerfully replaced it. New unit is working good... still FIVE OF SIX stars for this replacement unit.

A lot of power for the buck$
The product has a lot of power. It is a great price for the system it provides. The directions that come with the amp are lacking information. The directions illustration shows a mode setting for wifi. Not true on my device. It does pair with wifi in the Mp3 mode. With a little knowledge on component wiring you can overcome this.

Less than 50 bucks....
Seriously this thing is great. Hooked up to some old Daytons and they scream. The amp gets a little hot but so far no issues. I know Pyle isn't what it used to be years ago but isn't that where everything has gone? So far so good. I have it outside in a pole barn at my job site. I crank it and can hear tunes across the entire yard way down to the tanks.

So far so good. No problems. Fair price.
Most adequate for my required needs. Looks good too.

This item works well and is worth the price.
This item works well and is worth the price. The "bluetooth" linking is very quick. The "sound" quality is good when used with the correct acoustic transducers. There is one thing to be careful of. Turn the "volume" down before "switching" off the power, there is a "spark" in the transducer output.

Great Sound Quality at a Great Price
Easy hook-up to our outdoor speakers and Iphone bluetooth connection with great outdoor surround sound - although our neighbors may not like it. Will be purchasing another one for our downstairs speaker system and my stress-relief drum sessions.

Great value for the price.
I recently purchased this amp to replace the old boom box I had direct wired to the speakers on my patio. I had some Pyle 3.5" 100W/200W RMS max 3 way 4 ohm speakers on my patio. The boom box had 3W 8ohm speakers that I had bypassed.I received this new amp hooked it up and soldered the speakers back into my boom box and got it out of the way.I was a little worried about how well this amp would work because I had read some of the reviewed that mentioned high levels of distortion and low quality of the knobs and switches and push connectors. The first thing I tried was the aux in on the back hooked up to an ION turntable with RCA type connectors. The amp had a nice clear sound up to 80% volume (80% was the highest I turned it up). Carried the bottom end from the record and the highs were clear. The second test was running my laptop out the headphone jack into the aux in in the front with 1/8" stereo up to 80% volume and this was fine with no distortion.Next I turned the amp up to 80% with no input and no hum was audible, at least outside. Then I tested the USB input. The USB input adds alot of noise. There is a tone that is audible no matter what input is selected and new noises are produced when the stick is played.Performed the same tests with ear buds out the headphone jack. the results were the same. The headphone jack seems to be balanced well to the speaker volume.I have not tested the mic input, but I hope the mic doesn't introduce noise the way the USB input does. There is a moderate spike when the amp is turned on or off, but no more than a guitar amp or PA amp.My guess is the built in mp3 player just needs to be isolated and shielded better from the amplifier circuit.Outside, the USB player is tolerable as I only need to run this amp about 20-30% to hear to the edge of my yard. All in all this amp meat my expectations for the price. This is a good amp to run an outdoor system.EDIT: I submitted this review to Pyle to get the warranty extension and an engineer from Pyle e-mailed me back within a few hours. He told me my unit might be defective because of the noise on the mp3 port. I was really puzzled because everything else seemed fine, so I did one more test.I didn't happen to have a USB extension cable laying around, so I put a 500Mb Fat32 partition at the front of a 500Gb external hard drive and copied some mp3s over to it. Then I plugged it into the front and the noises were gone!!!The original drive I plugged in was a switchblade type 8Gb Sandisk Cruiser. It seems the combination of the longer blade and the shallow USB port let enough of the blade stay exposed to create some nasty RF interference. Playing mp3's from the external HD was as clear as everything else.I ran this amp all night anywhere from 20%-60% power switching from headphones to speakers a few times and this amp hasn't even gotten hot.It seems the moral of the story with these amps is make sure you use one pair of 4ohm speakers or two pair of 8ohm speakers and if you have a flash drive with a long blade, get a USB extension cable.More when I get a Y connector to test the rec out and a mic....

Poor product. I don't recommend.
The quality of the speaker wire connections is so bad that they break and fall apart when you try to put a wire into the hole. I have similar connections to these on another amp and they don't have this problem. There is no way to make the connections work without these and you can't replace them easily. I thought I could find a way around this problem, but waited too long and couldn't return the item. Don't make the mistake thinking that you can make it work.

Do not buy!!!
The media could not be loaded. I had it only 3 weeks and this happened today. Very disappointed. Imagine how dangerous it could’ve been if I wasn’t inside the house!!!!!!!!! (Please note the amplifier wasn’t on a plastic box I put it down from the actual shelf when it started to smoke.) I will contact amazon for a refund.

Great big sound from a little box.
If you read Reviews of this Company you'll find there bad reviews....well not this one this is great product from a company based in New York U.S.A, the sound from my QTX Mini Monitor speakers is amazing, the features are great you can record out to tape or to CD-r deck, you even got a mike input with auto speak over fade if your Dj'ing at a home party, ive linked a Hecules DJ Control instinct deck, a CD only player, my IPOD classic 160gb and my Sound Lab USB Dj Deck to listen to my old vinyl, even linked my laptop for better sound and my SkyHD+ box and my Samsung Smart Tv to it using a passive 4 switch box because i have to many ways to play sound and music, haven't used the USB Memory stick socket as yet as i have all of my CD's In MP3 Form on my iPOD and i play most of my CD's on My CD Player through this unit, this set up is in the bedroom where i listen to most of my music 'cos of the little room i have left in the front room and it's where my disabled wife is more comfortable watching Tv.As I live in a bungalow with my disabled wife, even she's telling me to turn the sound down LoL, if your on a budget the or just starting out in Dj'ing or have little space this is the way to go for your hi-fi separate's...the flashing lights on the Db+/- counter can be off putting (say's my wife) but it don't bother me...a brilliant little box which i bought for under £60 quid on Amazon, there are other 120W Amps from PyleHome Audio but this is the only one at this amazing price that has Balance, Base and tone controls the others i've found have just Base and Tone...well worth the money. This is my Husband's Review here.

Small amplifier with great facilities
Having previously purchased one of these amplifiers, this is the 2nd one just obtained again from Thompsons. It's a compact versatile unit with numerous inputs and the necessary audio controls for accurate audio and eq levels. It runs cool [though I'm not using high level outputs] from the 240v mains supply [its a dual voltage 115/230v unit]. There is a residual very low level buzz if monitoring on headphones with audio gain turned to nil though will not be heard when music/speech is passing through. The package arrived from Thompsons within the advised delivery dates, well packed I'm very happy with this amplifier and can recommend the unit to other Amazon customers.

Brought new life to an old set up
This amplifier has brought life into an old set of 80s Bose speakers and a record player that hasn't had much use, making it a complete set and now a centre piece to my home. Very simple set up, not an extensive equalisation choice but don't need much more than bass and treble to have your favourite tunes playing just the way you like them. The Bluetooth worked instantly and is an absolute essential and has so much use especially with my smartphone. For the price, you really can't beat this product for an old set up that needs that little bit of TLC into the 21st century.

Really excellent value for money
Amazon U.K. came up trumps again; I ordered this amplifier which I needed urgently having had a disaster with my current one and it arrived with me here in France within three days without paying extra for quick delivery.I especially liked the facility for connecting an MP3 output to this amplifier and found the quality of the sound perfect for my purpose of sound for slide/sound presentations. This is really good value for money.
