I’ve only had automatic 1 button press machines before and was apprehensive at how complicated this might be?** A: It depends on whether you are prepared for a purely manual machine. The length of coffee grind takes a little time to get right and may need alteration for different coffee beans, the brew time may need altering to suit your taste. I had the previous model which was slightly more hands on so the pro model is easier to use but still needs a reasonable input from the user. This is a good machine but does require far more work than say a pod machine. There are cleaning and de-scaling programmes to carry out on a regular basis and because the first brew of the day is cooler and shorter than the rest I put a shot through the machine with no coffee in place. I wanted a machine which only produced coffee grounds as waste, the idea of throwing pods in the bin put me off that idea. With this machine you have to be prepared to unleash the Barista within yourself but will get great Coffee with experience. **Q: What do you use to turn on the wand to heat up your milk? And how do you use the press for the coffee beans? Are these both on the menu screen?** A: You have handle for the pipe to heat the milk, it takes like 10 sec to heat up and then it start working. I feel like a proper barista using it. It’s perfect for home use. Firstly it’s incredibly stylish ( I have the Brushed Stainless Steel ), sleek and easy to clean. The size is just perfect on the kitchen counter, we have a galley kitchen that isn’t particularly big but the machine fits in perfectly and is not too big. The instruction booklet is easy to read and helpfully has several pages clearly worded, with diagrams, on how to use and set the settings for first use. Also pages for troubleshooting.There are two settings for coffee dispensing - 1 shot or 2 shot. The frother is excellent and with a bit of practice ( and lots of YouTube tutorials) you can be making coffee art like a pro!The timer to dispense coffee and grind settings for the beans there are clear instructions what to set them to in the manual but I did alter slightly to reduce output and get a slightly finer grind of coffee. The great thing is it’s very easy to adjust to suit your taste/ beans and very user friendly.As you can see in the photos this Barista Pro machine delivers a professional level of creme on the coffee that you would expect in a high end independent coffee shop. The coffee comes out so smooth and flavourful as well as perfectly hot even if you have just turned the machine on.This is the perfect buy or gift for any coffee lover, a machine that respects the standards we now expect from our coffee and allows you to treat it as more of a passion and art form than most standard coffee machines. It’s never leaked and it’s very quiet as well.Looks stunning, easy to clean, great digital display, durable solid materials, well built and delivers a great cup of coffee. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great machine - better than the De'Longhi equivalent *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 21 May 2026* I purchased this to replace a similar De'Longhi coffee machine (the Specialista Prestigio), which failed after only 3 years of use. I have now been using the Sage machine for 6 months and it is, in my opinion, by far the better designed machine. Like all similar machines, it takes time and perseverance to produce coffee exactly as one likes it, but I am now delighted with the consistency and quality of my espressos and cappuccinos. And the Sage is, for the most part, easier to use and keep clean. In particular, the performance of the milk wand is far superior to that of the De'Longhi machine and is quick and consistent to use. There are numerous other design features that are better, for example: the water reservoir is easier to remove from the machine and fill and is more clearly marked; the waste tray is much quicker and easier to remove, disassemble, and clean and the level warning float actually works; etc. If it had something like the De'Longhi's "Smart Tamping Station" (which is the only thing I miss), the Sage would be absolutely unbeatable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional machine for the home barista *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 30 May 2025* This is an upgrade on my Sage Barista Express (also an excellent machine) and I’m already enjoying the significantly faster times to heat up, create steam, foam milk, and be ready for the next cup.I’m still working on fully dialling in the extraction but I’m already seeing the potential for improved coffee quality.Reading some of the other reviews, I think it’s important to point out that this is NOT a bean-to-cup machine. It’s primarily a manual operation and you need to understand or want to learn the fundamentals of grind, dose, tamp, and extraction to get good results.Honestly, my first three pulls were terrible. I can imagine anyone expecting to press a button and get a good cup would be sorely disappointed.For me, I love the process of making my own coffee and continually experimenting and improving. With patience and skill, this machine will develop sweeter, richer, tastier espressos and lattes than you can find in most coffee shops. You will be fully rewarded for your investment in the machine, finding your perfect extraction, and using high quality, fresh beans.If you want to push a button, buy a Nespresso.
