What are the specifications of the cord needed?  I have to buy a new cord, but am not sure what type to look for.

Not quite sure of your question. I believe it works on 110/220, but I threw away my unit as it was steaming dirty water onto clothes (even after rinsing unit after each use). Planned obsolescence? Bought a TravelPro steamer instead.

So here is how it works or won't work... The handle on the product you could pull and turn to open... then put a little salt in with with water mix about 1/4tbs in and make sure you don't over fill to avoid leeks because it could leak down the cord to power source so put the desired amount from the cup...close it and then sit upright-plug it in the wall and the steam comes out for about 2-3 minutes only. Refill when needed/often but gets too hot to hold- It gets really hot and could burn the skin so be careful not to play with around kids. Once finished rinse the inside where you filled & pour out the water with gunk. Really to me it's not worth it but if you own it your not able to return it. I think its too difficult to use, too messy and complicated also dangerous if not used properly- You could just buy a really good iron and board for the same price or 1/2...good luck!
