An Awesome Coin Shooter
Still just a beginner I like to coin hunt at local parks in the play areas where the swing sets and slides are. The Gold Bug is an awesome coin shooter. Just set the detector to "all metal mode" and set the discrimination to 70 and it will reject almost all trash and only detect coins. I am still learning how to detect other items but coins are so easy. I stopped at a local park on the way to work this morning using the machine for the second time and in just over 1 hour this is my total haul = 14 dimes and 30 pennies, a tiny pin, a machine screw and a small piece of hardware. I also have a Garrett Pro Pinpointer that helped with quick recovery. After shooting 44 coins in 75 minutes as a noob I highly recommend the Gold Bug. While it is downplayed for finding coins I find the opposite to be true and here is the proof.

Good Intermediate Rig
Bought this for some outdoor adventuring at my ranch in New Mexico. I take this back into the juniper forest and have found all sorts of interesting things. My favorite was the half-buried mule shoe, as shown. I have also found very old heavy equipment parts, a 1940's era thermos bottle, and a small meteorite (about a 1/4in across). Depths are usually shallow, although I found a mysterious steel pipe buried about 8 inches down in the driveway. After careful excavation, it turned out to be some random piece of pipe. I would never have known it was there without this detector, plus it helped me scour a work area for sharp metals pieces, after some construction work. I've been using this for over a year and I'm still on the first battery! Okay, I don't use it EVERY day, but I am amazed at the battery life. Be sure to add a hand-held detector. The Gold Bug gets one pretty close to the target, but the hand-held detector zeroes in. If it's small, one could really miss something good, using only the Gold Bug. Haven't found any gold nuggets yet, but if they're out there, this device will probably find it. Not flakes, though. It would probably take a small nugget to get a solid signal worth digging for. Great product; good value. Happy customer!

It works but if you’re not experienced it has a learning curve.
Works great but wish it had defining tones for the different metals or at least a video link to show what the different metal tones are like. Did what I needed it to do. I was amazed at the amount of metal it found in the middle of a National Forest away from any camp ground. but unfortunately it didn’t find any gold where I went. I’m sure it will do what it’s intended for as I learn more about it.

Best GOLD detector and is the same as the PRO model
Fantastic metal detector. It's light weight, picks up all types of targets, and is simple to use. Can detect flakes/specks of gold with the 5 inch coil. Sidenote: I own the pro model too and there is no difference between the two except they moved the battery life indicator to the bottom middle.

There are more capable detectors out there!
This detector has been mediocre at best. The readout is counterintuitive, false targets are constant, my screen got a small amount of water on it and the whole display stopped working properly. Poor design for something that belongs outdoors. Not a good overall detector, only useful if you have nuggets around and even then there are much better out there for a bit more money. I regret buying this, and they won't let me return it.

Super fast, super price and super cool!
This thing is a GREAT Gold Detector! Iron soil readout, easy ground balance, super simple interface and sensitive(19khz). Aside for the added manual fine tuning of the ground balance on the pro it seems to be exactly the same(using a Side by side depth/sensitivity comparison). Shares coils with the f75 (Teknetics T2), GoldBug pro (Teknetics G2) and Teknetics greek series,..I can get by fine with using the auto ground balance just fine for the price(paid only 380! great sale day I suppose). Fast FREE shipping, clean, as expected. If you are over the Gold this thing WILL tell you. Still gotta know where to look! Thank you!

Check the condition of the box and contents when you get it.
This is a reorder as my 10" coil was not in the box in the previous order. When I received the first detector and opened the box it looked like it had just been thrown into the box and sealed. The instruction book was not wrapped, the detector was not wrapped like it should have been. There were places in the corners where the detector stems/rods should have been place in but weren't. It was obvious the detector was a return when it was supposed to be a new in the box detector. The little tab that had to be pulled out to enable the battery to operate was not in the detector head. This all told me that it seemed to be a return from a previous purchaser. I returned that one due to be an incomplete order since the coil was missing. I received the new detector yesterday (20th of Feb) and as soon as I opened the box, I could tell it was in fact a new detector as everything was wrapped in a plastic bag that should have been. The rods were in the slots made for them to sit in too. The pull-tab was still intact too. Hey, I did get what I actually ordered. Kudos to the shipper for sending the correct items this time. So, take my advice ladies and gentlemen. If you order something from Amazon carefully examine the contents and how they have been packed. It your order looks like it was just dumped into the box, more than likely it is a return. This order was filled by the one down in Plainfield Indiana. I never had trouble with orders from Amazon until this order. Now, the detector will be a learning curve for me since I was used to the Minelab Explorer II. Damned good machine but it would not detect gold. So, I bought the Fisher Gold Bug Pro. The book seems to be something that a child could set up after the book is read. Now, if the weather would stop snowing and mother nature would make everything warm up and dry, I will be out learning this detector. Good Luck to you all.
