I can say it is very heat resistant because I am also using it to insulate the exhaust from one of my inside Portable AC units & with it on there, you CAN NOT FEEL ANY HEAT COMING FROM THE EXHAUST HOSE. It is pretty easy to manuver to cut to size. It actually has pretty good sound insulation considering it's not the thickest available. I also did not have any issues with using adhesive on it. We literally unrolled it and stapled it up, cut where needed and used aluminum tape for some corners. And you could tell it worked after just finishing the ceiling portion. Once the walls were done as well, you could really tell. It was 10 degrees last night and it was comfortable in the building. Turned on a small heater and the space heated up within 10 minutes. I'm actually sort of blown away, it's so good that we ordered more to do another space and we will use the leftovers in a chicken coop that we are building. It doesn't smell, doesn't tear, is waterproof, rodent proof, mold proof...but mostly EASY to install. It took two 100 foot rolls to do the entire 288 square foot space. Just cut it with scissors or a blade where needed, easy to get around electrical outlets. Easy to hold overhead while stapling it to the ceiling. I'll never buy fiberglass again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This stuff is legit *by D***. on August 24, 2026* So, I built a detached garage at 24ft x 30ft. In the ceiling I put R30 insulation between all the joices. Then installed 5/8" sheetrock on the ceiling .The walls I put R15 between all studs, then I installed a layer of this Smartshield on the walls, then I installed 5/8" sheetrock over that and HOLY CRAP!!!!!! My detached garage is cooler than my any room in my house on a hot Texas day at 103 degrees. The temp is insanely constant in my new garage. I didn't know what to expect, but this has far exceeded my expectations. It was a bit of a pain to install the sheetrock over it because it compresses when you screw the sheetrock in. You can not counter sink the sheetrock screw too far as they will pop through, but if you take your time, the results are fabulous. Now I want to sheetrock my entire house and put this beneath. This is probably one of my smartest purchases off of amazon.
