PCI Educational Publishing Reading Program is level 1 scientifically research-based reading program for students who have intellectual disabilities that turns non-readers into successful readers. Books feature realistic illustrations and storylines that comprehends important life skills and lessons. Level one is designed as one to one program that has 28 books ranges from 8 to 12 pages in length and uses five-step lesson cycle makes learning easy that establishes a routine to promote student focus and addresses regression. Level one directs nonreaders into approximately a 1 reading level and is self-paced takes 2 to 18 months to complete on average and students learn 140 of the most basic sight words from the dolch and fry lists that progress individual reading words to 4 - 10 word sentences. Features visual discrimination, tactile reinforcement, guided practice, independent activities that makes students to learn automatically recognize and correctly pronounce each word and every word is practiced, reviewed more than 100 times to promote both short- and long-term retention while activities are varied enough to maintain student focus and interest. Illustrations used in the activities features real-world settings and making the program appropriate for all ages of nonreaders. Level one is projected truly for non-readers ages 5 to adult who can recognize few or no words while they begin the program and comes with additional Set 5 books.
