Ideal - Another amazing item from Amazon.com
This review is two fold - one on the product (so far) and the delivery service. Going through many many pieces of inherited clothing, much of it needed to be taken to the dry cleaner for pressing/steaming which would be very costly. My own travel steamer is apparently misplaced so I turned to amazon to look for possibilities. Reviewed the various steamers along with customer reviews and then cross checked the product with other internet reviews. I decided on this one. I've been an Amazon Prime member for some time and definitely that played a part in my choice. I had a small window of time to have some help sorting the clothing and chose next day delivery as the upcharge was reasonable. I'm set up for various notifications so I was informed of the status of the steamer's journey to me. It arrived almost to the minute promised. It was packed very well and assembled quickly. I appreciated the step by step and visuals in the manual.Does it work well? Oh my YES! It made quick work of getting the wrinkles out of a lot of clothes. The amount of steam is plentiful and does a great job. It was ready to work seconds after turning it on.I am tall and found the height of the pole to be perfect. For a shorter person, it can easily be shortened. The hanger is convenient to use and collapses easily for storage - perhaps almost too easily. Some sort of locking clip would be a good thing for the manufacturer to add. It's easy to hang your own hanger on it too. One other item the manufacturer might consider is providing clips that can be used for skirts. But I just used my own hanger and it worked fine. I don't know if the manufacturer planned it, but the way the nozzle lays in its cradle is perfect for doing collars.I have no reservations in recommending this steamer. The items I mentioned as being ideas for changes in no way diminish the effectiveness of the steamer itself. Great item, great value, great service.UPDATE JULY 8, 2012 - This steamer has become a part of my daily life. A quick steam of hubby's casual shirt or jacket before an outing, same for my overshirts and jackets. Did I say pants? This is WONDERFUL ON PANTS.By the way, in my original review I mentioned that a locking clip for the hanger would be nice. I missed it. It has a sliding feature that locks the hanger. I didn't read the instructions. Still stand by the need for clips for skirts, though.Overall, still very pleased. Absolutely no problems.UPDATE 10/4/12 - STILL WONDERFULLY PLEASED. Haven't had any problems with the steamer. Love it, love it!

Steamfast, Where have you been all my life! I am now WRINKLE FREE!
We were tired of the "old conventional" way of ironing and decided to purchase a steamer. Who knew there were SO MANY variations and options to choose from! After reading and narrowing down our hunt, we knew we wanted at least three (SIMPLE) things in a steamer:1. Compact (made for easy storing); (CHECK!)2. Heat up time; and (CHECK!)3. Continuous steam time (CHECK!)This Steamfast SF-510 is their newer model:Priced: $59.991. 46 oz. water capacity2. 45 sec heating time3. 50 min steam time4. 53.94 pole lengthThese features are the small changes/comparisons to their previous SF-407 "older" model which has:Priced: $59.991. 40 oz. water capacity2. 45 sec heating time (same)3. 45 min steam time4. 51.18 pole lengthThe price as you can see remains the same, yet you are offered a little more give on the pole length, water capacity and steam time! SteamFast, I think its in your best interest to lower the price on your older model! Its the only logical thing to do.It stores, beautifully, its compact and lightweight! The pole length is PERFECT and the steamer works wonderfully! It does exactly what we want it to do, and its so much faster and easier than the "old fashion" way of ironing! I love how it has wheels, folds up easier and stores without compromising any space in my closet!Great buy, we are super happy and would recommend to anyone in the market for a steamer!

Missing my Steamfast SF-407
This is my second Steamfast steamer. I replaced my previous Steamfast SF-407 steamer with this unit due to this unit being cheaper at the time. My original SF-407 was a great unit but died after about 2 years of use. It would produce about one minute of steam and then shut itself off. I don't blame Steamfast for this, as I did not follow their recommendations (I'd always leave it full of water for weeks at a time, etc). Truth be told, I loved the SF-407, and was very happy to purchase another Steamfast for my next steamer.I chose the SF-510 due to it being a lower price. It's basically the same thing, but the 510 has a nice exterior cord wrap to keep the cord in place, and comes with a different steaming head and an attached hanger. Have to say, I'm honestly not thrilled about the 510. It's OK....it still does a decent job steaming my clothing, but it's no where near as good as our previous 407. First of all, the general setup at the top of the pole on the SF-510 is a lot poorer than on the SF-407. The built-in hanger is pretty useless. It does an OK job of holding clothing there, but I find it much easier to put my clothing on my own hanger, that way when I steam one side, I can quickly spin it around and steam the back. Can't do that with the built in hanger. Luckily, it's very easily removable, so I have just stopped using it entirely. But then the other problem, the hooks to use your own hangers are on the sides of the top of the pole, rather than facing straight front to back. This means you have to awkwardly twist the hose to steam, and then it's a little tougher to put back in the steam head holder when you are switching from one garment to the next. Also, the SF-510 gives me a lot more water on my clothing when I steam. Not perfect steam like on my own unit. My SF-510 is either spitting out too much water, or not heating quite hot enough. Either way, its a little annoying if I need to quickly steam something to wear, and the end result is a soaked garment. This was never a problem on my older SF-407.So, I'm almost already looking forward to a time down the road when my SF-510 breaks down and I can either buy another SF-407, or try one of those Jiffy units that everyone raves about. Overall, 3 out of 5 stars...it's good, but not great, and much better options in the price range exist.
