Provides Accurate Readings
I bought this scale over a year ago. I used it almost daily for about 8 months, then stopped my weight loss program (bad idea), but at the beginning of 2013, I started the program again and started using the scale again. Here are my impressions from a year of use:1) The scale provides accurate body weight results, as verified by my multiple visits to the doctor's office where I weighed myself both with and without clothing before going to the doctor's office. This scale had the exact same weight readings as each of the scales I stepped on in the various doctor's offices, when weighing myself in the same clothing and without consuming anything in between. Depending on what I was wearing, I found my clothing could add 2 - 10 lbs to the weight readings.2) The body fat percent and muscle percent measurements seem to be affected a lot by water and muscle glycogen content. The more water weight you have, the higher your muscle percent reading will be and the lower your body fat percent reading will be. If you go on a diet and do lots of walking (I do 10 miles a day at 6% incline on my treadmill) it drains your muscle glycogen a little more each day and your fat percent reading increases with each day until you have used up all muscle glycogen. It took me about 8 lbs of weight loss (1 week at 10 miles per day and 1,000 calorie diet each day) before the readings leveled out. Once glycogen was depleted, the fat percentage stopped increasing. In fact, based on my calorie deficit for the day and the difference between subsequent days of readings, the the fat percentage difference converted to lbs of fat lost exactly matched my calorie deficit for the prior day. Prior to hitting glycogen depletion, the readings were more sporadic and it would appear that I was gaining and losing as much as 2 - 4 lbs of fat between days. My wife also had a water submersion test done to determine body fat percent, which is the most accurate way to determine it. That test put her at 34% body fat while the scale read 37.4%. That's a difference of about 5 lbs of fat for her weight.3) The scale takes measurements fairly quickly.4) The original batteries are still working, but I only weigh myself once a day.5) The body age number seems a bit wacky. I am 32, but it says my body age is 71. I have lost about 35 lbs so far, and my body age has dropped from 75 to 71. I still have another 60 lbs to lose to hit my ideal weight (15% body fat). However, I have lost 1/3 of the weight I needed to lose and the body age has only changed by 4 years. So, that means when I hit my ideal weight, it will probably still be saying I am 63. I walked 1400 miles last year.6) The visceral fat reading has dropped from 15 to 14. I seem to be stuck at 14. 15 is the highest reading. Even after my initial 8 months on my weight loss program eating a very clean diet, and losing 30 lbs, it still only went from 15 to 14 and has stayed there. I am not too sure it is working correctly.7) Overall, the scale is awesome, and it is way more accurate than I expected it to be with weight and body fat readings. However, I would like the ability to import the data into my computer for tracking. I currently manually enter it into a Google Docs spreadsheet for tracking and graphing progress.

Great scale without the subscriptions and apps
Great scale with no subscription, apps, or hassle. It measures and tracks the basics such as body fat, muscle percentage, weight, and visceral fat, but that’s all I wanted. Is it accurate? Don’t know for sure as I haven’t had a Dexa, but it seems to check out based on body fat photos and allows me to measure progress based on previous measurements.

Consistent, simple, and accurate.
I think this scale is really amazing for the money. It seems to be very accurate and consistent with weight. I use it daily to track my fat loss journey. So far after a few months, it seems sensitive enough to be able to fairly accurately show if weight is fat, muscle, or organs to include what you ate. I can see those numbers change daily depending on what I eat. This is super apparent when I'm going keto or fasting. If I eat carbs and salt, the muscle numbers go up significantly. If you know the physiology of what is going on in your body, this scale is awesome. Fair warning, it will probably say that your body fat percentage is higher than you think. It did for me, and it is probably right. ;)

Useful for body fat %
This is a pretty great scale! It shows me as about a pound heavier than my other scale (a glass weight watchers scale- ol' reliable). While that does make me feel bad, I like this one because it gives an estimate of body fat percentage. I do appreciate the handles that you can pull out, as this gives a better body fat reading than only reading from your feet. That being said, it's still not perfect- this one puts me at about 18-19% when I'd say I'm closer to 20-21%. Even so, this is very helpful for tracking trends in your body comp!

It's Like That Overly Honest Friend...in a good way
Okay, i'm sure a lot of people will get discouraged the first time they step on this scale. In fact, I know they will. But sometimes people would rather ignore the truth than have it on some digital display in front of them. I researched different scales for a long time before finally choosing this one after my old reliable Health-O-Meter went to the weight loss graveyard. Looking back on it, I'm sort of ashamed I even took my Health-O-Meter's readings as reliable because they were horribly exaggerated from any other place I would weigh myself (like the Dr's office). After starting college and falling victim to tons of fat-laden fast food, my boyfriend and I were looking for a change. We weighed ourselves on our old scale and it said I was 131 (i'm under 5 foot so this was not as good for my health as my previous 118). We began an exercise and eating program, our new OMRON scale arrived, I weighed myself, and I was 136! What the hell?! Two weeks of me trying to get back in shape and it resulted in a 4 pound gain?! Nope, not at all. This was just the first time I accurately weighed myself. Realizing that the whole time I had weighed 10 pounds more than I had assumed (and my assumption was already 15 pounds higher than i'd like) explained a lot that I saw in the mirror. I had been putting off getting back to my healthy, natural self because despite the fact I could clearly see how bad it had gotten, the scale was telling me it wasn't that bad. Now the OMRON, a drill sergeant of a scale, was ready to be brutally honest and get me to my goal. I did the full composition test and was shocked at some of the numbers. Of course, I always take things with a slight grain of salt, but seeing that my "body age" was 39 (i'm about to be 20!!) and my boyfriend who is about to be 21 had a "body age" of 29 made us really sit and think about what we've been up to with our eating and sedentary lifestyle. Also, due to the awesome guest feature, I was able to test everyone who walked in the door (because for some reason this device just looks plain cool):teenagers, parents, and a whole different array of body shapes. Some of the parents were way out of their age range (a 69 year old body age on a middle aged woman and a teenage girl) so I can see where people might not want this hypothetical information rubbed in their faces. But that's just it- I was looking for something brutally honest and I found it. I've had this scale now for over a month and I'm beyond pleased. What was once a horrible reading of 39 years old for my 19 year old body has now become a mere 34 (that's the only way that I know of to lose 5 years off your age in a month!), all my other readings have gone significantly down (except my muscle which has gone UP!) and my boyfriend has been showing the same progress. The tracking feature on the scale allows me to see my progress over a period of time and definitely keeps me motivated and on track! And for those days where a reading suddenly spikes (got into those muffins a little late...) you can put it into better perspective than if you were to only have a regular weight reading. Only problem I've found whatsoever is that for one of the people we tried to weigh (he was a very muscular man of 340lbs) it just read error. The limit is 330 for all the body composition features so if you're above that, definitely go with another brand until you're in the range or this product is useless. Also make sure you use the OMRON on a flat surface where it's not rocking and that you following the right hand and foot sensor positions. After the first day, despite it's complicated appearance, it's the quickest part of my routine. What I just want to know is how some of my fellow reviewers in my age range are getting body ages of 16 and 15! I blame this on my assumption that being very short and well-endowed in certain areas makes my body fat reading a little screwy. I don't think they expect my height to have a cup size that I do. I also wish I could put in my frame size somewhere (perhaps in a future edition!) because I have a large frame and feel as though it changes some of my readings. Either way, this is the best scale i've ever purchased. Some people may not appreciate seeing the truth of what they're made up of, but I certainly do! It's like I have my own personal trainer to do a reading whenever I want! I wish anyone considering this scale tons of luck in reaching their goals and I hope you enjoy this product as much as I do! If nothing else, it's definitely a conversation piece.
