This bulb is the bomb!
These bulbs will grow anything you want indoors. They give off very little heat, have a nice spectrum of light (5500K), and use very little electricity. The bonus is that they fit into regular bulb sockets. Keep in mind they are about 9 inches long. You can use these bulbs during the vegetative stage of your plant's growth as well as the flowering stage. In a perfect world, you should switch out the 5500K bulbs when your plants start to blossom with CFL Grow Light - Compact Fluorescent Light 26 watt 2700K Flowering spectrum grow light bulb screws into standard light socket by SunBlaster Grow Lights. As you can see, things can start getting expensive. You can use either bulb throughout the plant's life, from root to reaping, but if you only have money for one type of bulb, use these. I've found no difference in switching out the bulbs during the flowering stage. You can also mix and match so half are 5500K bulbs and the other half are 2700K bulbs. This ensures your plants get the full spectrum of sunlight.I use these bulbs for all stages to grow "vegetables" and they work exactly as promised. Plus you can't beat the price. Keep them about 4-8 inches from the tops of your plants to prevent leaf singeing. Here are a few tips:* Hold the top of your hand below the light (after the bulb's warmed up) where it's level with your plant's topmost leaf. If it gets too warm, it's too close to your plants.* Get the Woods 0162 18/2-Gauge SPT-2 Clamp Lamp with 10-Inch Reflector, 150-Watt, 6-Foot Cord to screw in the bulb and reflect back any rays downward. This clamp is great for adjusting the bulb in different directions and has a large reflector.* Get either a XCSOURCE® 4 Socket Adapter 4 in 1 Adapter Holder E27 Bulb Lamp Light Socket Splitter For Photo Studio LF258 or Leviton 128-I 15-Amp 660-Watt Twin Light-Socket Adapter, Ivory if outlets/space are an issue. If you do get a socket adapter (either 2 or 4), you'll need to get a Leviton R52-01403-00W 15 Amp Residential Grade Medium Base Lampholder Outlet Adapter, White so you can screw it into your clamp light. The socket extender will give you the extra length you'll need with your socket splitter.* The rule of thumb is to use 50 watts per square feet of grow AREA, so a 3'x3' grow area would be nine square feet. Each bulb gives off a 250w incandescent equivalent (and 60 watts of yummy CFL plant light) so you would need 7-8 bulbs. Keep in mind that the grow area is not the same as the size of your grow room. For example, if you've cordoned off 9 square feet in the basement to growing plants, you'll need about 8 of these.* If you're bad at math, just use one bulb per plant. It may seem like a lot at first but as your plants get bigger, that 9-inch bulb doesn't seem quite so big compared to your three-foot plant! As an added bonus to growing vegetables and whatnot inside your house is the extra humidity your plants provide during the winter season via evaporation. If you live in an apartment and do not have access to an outdoor grow area, and it's summertime, keep that in mind when choosing your light source. These bulbs give off negligible heat and use scant amounts of electricity. They are an excellent buy and highly recommended.

Massive Brightness
This light is not necessarily the prettiest kind of light out there in the world, but it thrusts out tremendous amounts of some kind of light, not sure how to characterize the light in the language an engineer might use. After reading reviews, I could absolutely see how a painter/artist/John Cougar Mellencamp and his now divorced wife, Elaine/Photographer might benefit from a lightbulb such as this.My best guess is that this kind of bulb could provide a benefit for the photographer that angles the light indirectly in a clever match with science. Describe it as you will, disperse the light, fray the light, splotch the light, buffer it, I think this will really light a room, it will achieve the aim of the consumer. Probably it would be wise to have several lamps with this kind of bulb (if you need to do photography set-ups on the cheap) in order to illuminate a space and the object's face, form, or image.Big light. Much bigger light than I was imagining, thus I am a pleased Amazonian shopper. I'm shopified as a result of this purchase. I'm a happy customer after buying this device. I recommend others to consider buying this here device. I give it my approval, but I am not picky about the specifics of the light needed for the space I am trying to illuminate. Read other reviews to get into the details of the light as it fits in/on/within the Electromagnetic Spectrum.Buy it.(Follow-Up edit from Jan 22, 2013).. I thought it might be important to mention that I am using this device with a 10 1/2" Clamp Light with Porcelain Socket (built by Continental Electric) - I bought two of these clamp lights from the local Home Depot (maybe paid $18.00/each after taxes, without the lightbulbs). I purchased this because it can handle a 300 Watt lightbulb. The last thing I need is a house fire because I didn't take enough care to use the proper gear (sockets, decent gauge extension cords, etc.).Also, to the touch, when the lightbulb is seated in the socket and has been turned on for many hours, the aluminum of the clamp light is at room temperature, nearly coldish - absolutely zero transfer of heat, as far as I am concerned from observation by touching of the hand to the metal surface. This lightbulb is indeed a CFL.Finally, the discussions about the quality or efficiency of the lightbulbs that I notice in other reviews, or on lightbulb websites, I think the strict purists simply take it too far. Indeed, if you get a headache from a certain kind of light, then simply don't use it. I prefer incandescent illumination because it feels softer/homey to me, but I value the energy savings of the CFLs. There are tradeoffs and you've gotta be willing to adjust to them. Try the lightbulb then make your opinion after. But, trust me, you are going to see a marked expansion on progress toward your attempt at illuminating a space. It IS a different quality of light, but it is effective in the projection of light. And that is what I wanted. I got what I paid for. After nearly a week of usage, I am still a pleased customer. I would still recommend this lightbulb. Yes, yes.

Burned out in less than six weeks, one bulb blew out of socket
I had high hopes for these bulbs and when I first got them, was very happy with the output and how my plants responded. I have a large succulent collection I am overwintering in my home. However, within six weeks, all three bulbs burned out and I sent out for replacements while under warranty. Less than 3 weeks later, one of the bulbs blew out of the socket while I was at work - the glass part was hanging down from the screw-in part by one wire. I just was informed by Amazon that I cannot exchange for a different bulb, but that I have to send it in and wait for a refund. Now I am out the cost of a different bulb to get lights back on my plants, have to go back to UPS and return the bulb and wait for it to be processed to get a refund on my account. I am going to return the other two bulbs and get a refund, because I fear that it is only a matter of time before they burn out or explode and I am not going to risk my animals. Wish these had worked!!
