Chlorhexidine Dog Shampoo Itchy Skin Relief, Anti-Itch, 16oz

It might be too early to post a review but I’m hoping it might help worried dog owners like myself. Last night I noticed my dog lying down and then bolting up to scratch/itch his paws or his body. It seemed like the discomfort was so sharp it genuinely kept him from resting through the night, so I gave him a treatment bath shortly after delivery. It’s been about an hour post path and the difference is immediate! He is napping comfortably and the paw licking/chewing has stopped almost entirely. When he licks, it’s more like he is back to just grooming himself rather than trying to ease the itch. Not only that, but he smells amazing. Usually, no matter what kind of scented shampoo I used, he still had that wet-dog smell underneath his coat. This shampoo left him smelling like fresh berries and super fluffy! Honestly, it was worth the emergency fast shipping. It may not be a cure to the underlying source of his allergies but it’s worth the instant relief. I’m hoping to see how it actually treats the fungal/yeast infection with repeated use, so only time will tell. My only caveat is that you do need a hefty amount to lather well, especially if your dog has a long-haired coat. Definitely recommend!

Initial review, product worked really well. My bloodhound has fairly sensitive skin and anything can flare up her dandruff. This helped reduce her itching and curb her smell.

I have a German Shepherd/Alaskan male mix who has allergies in the summer. Even loses fur in some spots on his legs. He also gets the smelly belly. This shampoo has really helped tremendously. It lathers up very well and it smells clean if you know what I mean. His coat has improved since I’ve been using it and I would definitely purchase this again.

I got this shampoo for my dog that has terrible skin issues. He is a 10 year old lab mix that was on Apoquel for a couple of years. It worked wonders in the beginning, but as time went on, the injections weren't as effective. Instead of lasting a whole month, he started to itch after a few days. That's when I started my desperate search to find an alternative. Systematically, I did what I could to pin point what he was allergic to and how to remedy it. I tried various dog food, and when that didn't help, I began making all his meals from scratch. I stuck with it for 2 months, but still no improvement. I have tried at least 10 dog and human shampoos until I found this product. I was especially interested in it because two of the active ingredients are antibacterial and antifungal. He has secondary infections because of all the scratching. As soon as I applied the shampoo to his horribly irritated stomach, his skin color instantly turned from red back to normal color. I didn't want to get my hopes up and honestly thought that it was in my head. The shampoo has other great qualities such as the smell and ease of lathering. Those things are great, but really not that important. I'm looking for real relief for my dog. After the bath: very occasional scratching for the first 24 hours. So far, nothing remarkable when compared to several other shampoos I've used. 48 hours post bath: Scratching frequency increased, but not to the point that he's waking me up at night. Side note: my goal is for HIS relief, not me searching for something to keep him quiet so that I can sleep through the night. 72 hours post bath: Again, scratching frequency increased and has started to wake me up at night 5 days post bath: Time for another bath. I throw in the flag when I hear him whine when he scratches. This shampoo works better than any other that I've tried at relieving my dog's chronic itchy skin. It is not a cure all. For that, the underlying issue of WHAT is causing the itch would need to be determined. While I continue to answer that question, I will be using this product on a weekly basis

This shampoo is amazing. It smells amazing and helps my dogs coat feel soft after using. On day 2 after the bath and she still smells amazing even after running around outside all day. Would definitely purchase again. It also helped her with her itchy skin she seems to be itching less.

Loved this product, the smell was like berries, made her coat super soft, took a bit to lather up but easy to rinse and was effective in helping her skin look and feel better. Overall I would recommend this.

First of all, it smells like strawberries, so you won’t have a “medicinal” smell lingering as you shampoo. The scent disappears after rinsed off. I can’t smell it at all. Lathers nicely, I didn’t feel the need to re-lather, and it rinses off well and completely. The dogs are soft, clean and fluffy. I shake the bottle before using this. My dogs don’t lick as much…I was taking them to the vet and getting allergy shots every month and they would still lick, scoot and roll crazily on the carpet to relieve the itching…I thought that it might be anal gland issues or even a chicken allergy, but I’m now sure (especially after using this) that the itching was caused by allergies that were affecting their skin. It’s crazy but the vet never once recommended a shampoo like this, or that skin allergies was an option. I will definitely tell them about my experiences when I take the dogs there again. I’ve used other shampoos, oatmeal and aloe and such and it hasn’t changed the itching. Will continue to buy this. Try it if your dog is constantly scratching, even if their skin isn’t red, but ESPECIALLY try it if their skin is red/inflamed.

Your dog will thank you later, I said I would not put my baby through that this summer and I meant it! This product helped me have an allergy free, itch free, shed free frenchie. Used it every 2 weeks as soon as the pollen start falling and sprayed my lil dog conditioner mixed with water every couple of days in a mist bottle.
