What is the difference other than the color and the filter number between the FM15 and the FM25?

The only difference is the color. I have a silver faucet mount and i use the white filters. Why, because they are cheaper and you can't even see it underneath.

I assume that the questioner wants to know if there is something that indicates when the filter needs to be changed. You should keep a spare filter cartridge on hand. Change it out when the water flow slows down. New, the flow will be about 1 oz. per second. An 8 oz. glass will be filled in 7 or 8 seconds. Over time, depending on the amount that you use the filter, the flow will slow to where it takes 10 or 12 seconds to filter 8 oz., it's time to replace the filter cartridge.

Is this plastic with a chrome coating? My white FM-15 has started to crack at the top (water pressure is too high).

Yes it is. It seems to be the FM-15 with chrome coating. I was sent an FM-15 in an FM-25 box a while ago (great quality control) so as I needed to use it straight away I got used to the white fixture on the chrome. I now use the FM-15 as it's cheaper.

the water just started coming out as a slow drip, after only a month of use. Should that happen?

Yeah, I have a leak/drizzle after about 1 1/2 months. It happens when pull the rod. Regular water is fine if not going for filtered water. I took it apart twice and replaced the seal ring but still leaked.
