I have. but if your quilting I do not use steam.

What is in mary ellen's best press. somebody told me it may contain formaldehyde?

It is NOT listed on the container and I have never noticed any of the adverse reactions etc. that can occur if there is formaldehyde in it. Been using it for years. Love it!

can this be added to steam iron?

No, it should not be put into any steam iron tank. Only pure water goes in those. You need to spray it onto fabric you will iron. I think it is the best spray starch I have ever used and I iron every day as I sew a lot.
