When Calls the Heart - Seasons 1-5 - 56 Episode Set

I am in LOVE with When Calls The Heart. I purchase this item just in case, I find myself with nothing to do. Furthermore, I can always pop the DVD in, relax and enjoy

I am a hearty (or in layman's terms, I am a fan of When Calls the Heart). I was excited to find seasons 1-5 sold together on DVD. I feel that the show was best during these earlier years. This review will contain some spoilers. I think this is a wonderful show. I only have a few basic complaints, such as unrealistic costuming and hair design for the era in which the show is supposed to have taken place (1910). I also don't think Erik Krakow is a particularly great actress. She is very pretty, but she says almost ever sentence as if it's a question. But having said that, it is a wonderful show...for the first five seasons. The whole premise of this show is: well-bred city girl moves to a small town to teach school and falls in love with a Mountie. They really drew it out. Jack and Elizabeth met in the first episode, and then very, very slowly moved on from there, not marrying until the middle of season 5. Way too long. In all the in-between time, they have this sort-of-official relationship that just moves so slowly. Everything in this show takes a long time to develop. It tries my patience! But finally, Jack and Elizabeth marry in season 5...only to have him die at the end of the season! I think the show had run its course by then and they should have just ended the show with everyone living happily ever after. I don't like that they killed Jack off. Actor Daniel Lissing wanted off the show, but that put it in the situation they are in now...perpetual soap opera! I loved this 5-season DVD set, which shows Jack and Elizabeth's love story. I watch it up through the wedding and shortly thereafter, but then I rewrite it in my mind and say that Jack and Elizabeth lived to a ripe old age together.

I truly love this show - one of my all-time favorites. All of the discs were there. The video was amazing! All discs for every season were there, in proper order. No skipping or any other problem when playing them. My only disappointment is that the audio is not great. I have to turn it way up in order to hear the dialogue, and even then voices are often muffled. I think this is a Hallmark issue because their original broadcasts of this show are the same - outstanding video but sub-par audio/dialogue. If you have a stereo receiver, which I do not, with audio adjustments, it might be better. Despite this, WCTH is SO great and enjoyable! I should give it 4 stars because of the audio, but I love WCTH so much I just can't bring myself to do that. Enjoy!!!

After watching the related series "When Hope Calls" I was expecting the production quality of "When Calls the Heart" to be better being that it lasted so many seasons. I don't expect the acting in a Hallmark TV movie to be at a high standard because the actors aren't given much time to prepare...But Erin Krakow's work in the first few episodes is lacking the authenticity to be believable. Superficial acting becomes a distraction for me away from the story line. It's a shame because the supporting cast is good. I wondered why I hadn't seen the series before. Actually I watched a few minutes and discounted it. There is merit to the series but I think 5 stars is way too generous when the lead is so weak. I had to raise my voice and be counted.

I must confess that I am a "Heartie" I love this series. I ordered because I want to watch it over again and share it with menbers of my family. The storyline is riviting and heartwarming. This Christian based series is suitable for children to watch and at the sazme moving and exciting for adults of any age. I highly recommend.

My husband like to see a couple of these episodes each week and we both find these to be so entertaining! We have laughed a lot while seeing some of the situations that happen. The acting is great by all the characters! Fun to see how the "good and evil" all play out, and sometimes it is hard to figure out the characters' motives.

I really enjoy this series. It's great for family and those of all ages. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the cases seem inferior. They need to be better quality to store "collector's editions" successfully. I am also confused on the episodes and the movies. Which order to watch them in or even how to purchase.

I LOVE this series and it is just so relaxing yet has action and moves right along during this time of COVID. Helps to relax me on hard days. You'll LOVE it, start with one season and see what you think ... :)
