A Fantastic Mystery Adventure Sequel!
The Falcon's Feather picks up right where its predecessor left off: Cruz and his fellow students are aboard the Orion for their semester at sea with the Explorer Academy. This book is so great for kids. It is a wild and action-packed adventure that kids (and parents) will love. I bought this for my 11 year grandson, and he simply loves this series. ( Now I read it too so we can discuss it ). One of the exciting developments that I liked in The Falcon's Feather, is that we are given a firsthand glimpse of the villain's plans, and we find out that a student is working for them! All kids will be able to relate to the characters, will get immersed in the science and will love traveling the world. The storytelling and the background messages make for a thrilling and timely novel once again.

I have never seen him read a book this fast
I bought the first three books in the series as my son, who has his ups and downs with reading since there are so many distractions (xbox, I am looking at you). He devoured all the first three and asked if there were any more! I got the last two and they lasted three days. He loves these books and actually reads them instead of watching TV, playing xbox, or looking at the iPad. I have also read them so that we can discuss the content. Overall, these books are engaging for an 11 year old, filled with neat and futuristic tech, and a compelling story. A must read for an inquisitive mind. Definitely a winner.

Wonderful series cant wait for book 3!!!
This is shaping up to be a great series! This is book 2 in the series Explorer Academy. This book is just as fast paced and well written as book 1.Even more so now because you know a little bit of history behind the main characters so now your invested in them. I love that these are back by National Geographic because it makes feel like I'm sharing a great story with my family and even though its fiction you do a have a bit of truth about the places the characters visit, some history and science. The only draw back (and I'm kinda picking at straws here)is that one of the villains of book 2 was easy to spot on early in the book. Me and my daughter cant wait for book 3.If you enjoyed 39 clues before the series got way to long I think this book would be a great pick for you.

Amazing new series tied to National Geographic focus...
I have not actually finished this book yet but am sure it will be as riveting and exciting as the first in the series. I found out about this author and new series while attending a comic book convention. National Geographic had a booth set up there and were selling many of the titles that kids love including "Ultimate Weird but True." I spoke with the rep and she shared with me this awesome new series for young adults. I am an elementary school librarian and always looking for new books to share with my students. This series mixes the excitement of intrigue, mystery, science and international travel with the story of a young boy searching for his mother's (presumed dead) lost information about a serum that could help heal injuries and disease world wide. There are bad guys a plenty and who can he trust? A good read!

My 8 year old son loves this book and the series
I am reading the Explorer Academy series with my 8 year old son. He loves science and adventure so this series is right up his alley. He's an excellent reader, and can read all the words on his own, but would get hung up on some of the dialogue and idioms so I read it with him and explain things that are unclear to him. We are on book 4 and he seems to love them all equally. He will have a hard time waiting until the next book comes out.

And once again I'm left waiting for the next one....
These stories are so very well crafted, they just leave you wanting more! You really care about the characters, you want to see them succeed, and you hate it when you start to become suspicious of some of them as being potentially "bad guys" because you don't want someone you've come to care about to be on the wrong side of things.Add in the clever riddles and puzzles, the science and geography, the intelligence that goes hand-in-hand with the heart, and you've got a wonderful adventure unfolding before you in the pages of these books. In other words, these books draw you into their world and you don't want to leave!
