I didn't buy it because of how it looks but that is an added bonus. I got it to replace a plastic one as I became worried that it was not healthy to use. I like that this one is stainless steel and does not have any plastic parts inside which is what led me to order it. It boils water fast. Only thing I don't love is that it is that the lid fully detaches. On my old tea kettle the lid had a hinge. That wouldn't be possible with this one because the handle is on the top. Not terrible but I just liked the hinge better. I like the indicator light to know when I have turned it on.
