OrtofonOM Pro S DJ Cartridge

All i can say is what the ? ,THIS THING IS AMAZING , currently own about $11,000 in audiophile equipment ,never bought a DJ cart before im not a DJ and never will be, I bought it for all the hype I was hearing and it was dirt cheap figured I would just end up giving it to my kid, well no way is it going to my kid LOL ,this thing is extremely impressive, the sound quality is amazing this thing has great lows and amazing top end ,mids are impressive as well , you wait in the next few years this thing will go up drastically in price that is my prediction. Again I do not use this for DJing I am only an audio file listener, this gives you everything you want in an amazing listening experience. If you're looking for anything in a sub $400 cart this is the one for you. This card has an audiophile quality like no other cart has and its price range ,I would say the next tier up would be a $400 cart by Goldring which is also a very impressive cartridge company.,this cart sounds amazing with the pioneer pc-HS01 that i purchased also from amazon ,due to its very good reviews as well ,amazing set up ,thanks guys for the amazing products .

Ok so I just got into DJing with turntables. I've been using a DDJ-SX2 DJ controller before that. I was gifted two Gemini PT 2000 mk2 turntables, which are basically just Technics 1200 clones. Anyway, when I first got them, they had some raggedy needles on them so I swapped them with two new Numark CC-1 cart/stylus combos I bought on here. Well when trying to scratch on the turntables, the needles skipped like crazy. Sometimes it would be better than others, but I feel confident in saying that the CC-1 skips, no matter how tightly you calibrate it. I looked online for "best DJ carts for scratching" and saw this as one of the middle of the road choices. I decided to buy one to test it out and I can safely say, they are great for scratching. I'm able to scratch my 7inch scratch vinyl as well as my 7inch control vinyl without the needles skipping. It may skip if I'm overly vigorous and shake the turntable/tonearm too much, but when I'm using proper technique, it stays rock solid. Even dropping the sound and pulling back on the vinyl it stays in the groove. This is a great cart/stylus combo and I can't believe how cheap it is. It's $20 cheaper than the Numark CC-1 and works better than that one. If you're looking for a new cart, and don't want to drop almost $300 on a Shure M447, then this is a safe bet. It sounds great and performs like a champ. 5 stars all around.

Needed to replace my stylus on an older turntable. This orthogonal was a perfect match for it. Easy to install, and sounds fantastic.

I was looking for an inexpensive Needle to replace the SHURE SC35's I've been using. Ortofon has a good name inside the DJ community so I decided to try these Out. I like my SHURE's because I've been using them since day one, But I'm happy with the tracking, the sound quality and the fact that it can stand the abuse of scratching. Also the fact that you can still get replacement stylus(s) if needed. I know you can get knock-off SHURE stylus, but they're not the same as the original. Ortofon has a Good Needle here.

For what I paid, and why I bought it... it’s fine. I need it to throw onto one of two turntables I plan on selling off (the cart just completes a package, so next guy can play right away). When i first played it (on my tech 12), it sounded clear, crisp, no humming noise... “kinda” hi-fi, audiophile. But, next to my other deck with a Shure m44-7, it’s much lower output, way less bassy. I had to turn up the gain and level (on mixer) and turn the treble way down and well as the mids. Again, for what I paid... I’m using it to listen to smelly records and I will have it on the deck I sell... so, mission accomplished... but, this is more for entry level guys... I have another Ortofon arriving soon, will see how a more expensive model sounds...

Ortofon Pro S - exactly as described. If you are a DJ you know Ortofon is one of the best quality and sound cartridges in the market. Delivered as expected, quick!!!

Upgraded from the very cheap Numark GrooveTracer (or something like that) cartridges that came with my very cheap turntable; not a huge difference, but maybe a little more detail on quiet passages and the viewing notch above the stylus is great. These'll likely sound better on club 1200s, and they'll definitely look better than those embarassing cheapies.

I purchased this cartridge because it has a 1.1 conical stylus and could be a good match for playing vintage mono records. Its tough to find a large conical stylus at this price so I gave it a shot. I did not get the results I wanted. I believe this cartridge really needs to be tracked at 4 grams or more to get the best results. I was only able to dial up about 3 grams of force. I did not want to invest in a heavier headshell or counterweight so it went back to amazon.If you are looking for a very good affordable cartridge for stereo playback buy the Ortofon Omega - I own one. It has a nice elliptical stylus ideal for stereo records and it costs less and sounds better than a Pro S.

My cartridge was at least 30 years old, this has revitilzed my turntable. Sounds great now.
