Fabulous. The Whey protein I've been searching for FOR YEARS!
While I don't eat any particular diet plan, I have lost 40 pounds over the years working in organic raw foods, lots of vegetarian meals, low carb phases to kick the sweet tooth, etc. I never stick to any one thing, though, but I do count calories. I've tried so many, assorted protein powders--Designer Whey, Melaleuca's brand, BSN, ProtiDiet, WonderSlim, EAS, Myoplex, MetRx, and a bunch over the years that I've totally fogotten-- and some are cloying, some bitter, some weird tasting, some tasty but hard to mix, etc. Since I like doing a protein-antioxidant blend of products for my pre-workout breakfast to keep reflux at bay when I'm upside down or curling up in Pilates (ie, putting pressure on the intestines, abdomen), a liquid breakfast works best for me. AND...for when I am hungry between meals, I like protein shakes/mixes, too. However, so many of them are loaded with weird stuff or have a ton of calories. This one by Solgar I decided to try after reading the recent Consumer Reports article on contaminated protein powders. I also was happy that its NOT SOY BASED. (I am not euthyroid, so I'd rather eat my soy than drink it, as I like tofu, and I need to watch my soy intake.) It has a very light texture and taste--very light nice vanilla, not cloying, not "trying to be like a sweet milkshake" taste. Mixes up perfectly in a shaker cup (no sticking-to-bottom bits or clumped floaters). Goes down easy and fast. No aftertaste. This is a perfect high-protein base for me to add my own additives (fruit, yogurt, raw organic cacao powder, whatever I want.) And how nice that I'm not getting dosed with cadmium, lead or arsenic, like with some of the other brands I've tried that the report highlighted as dangerous. (If you're drinking Muscle Milk, BSN, Jillian Michaels, etc, you need to check into this.) I will definitely repurchase. I also bought the chocolate, which I plan to have tomorrow. Wish they had a strawberry one, but I'm willing to check out the berry blend, and, really, it's easy enough to toss in a blender with some frozen strawberries. :D For folks doing low-carb shake-based plans, like WonderSlim or MediFast, I think you could save some bucks using Whey to Go for your shakes. The protein/carb/fat is workable for those plans. Be well, enjoy....

No added sugar or artificial sweeteners
Vanilla Bean Flavor I usually make my own shakes with fresh fruit and milk (or soy milk). I wanted a protein boost without added sweetness or granular texture. This fits the bill perfectly. This product does not have any added sweetener and the overall flavor is very mild. This made my shakes taste richer but didn't really change the flavor. This probably wouldn't taste good with just water since it is very bland. It mixes very smoothly. Some people voiced a confusion about ingredients, serving size and such so I thought I'd include what it says on the powder i received (it is the same as Solgar's Whey To Go® Protein Powder Natural Vanilla Flavor - New & Improved Formula as reported on their website). Serving Size: 25 g (approx. 1 Level Scoop) Amount Per Serving, Calories 90, Cholesterol 5 mg 2%** ,Total Carbohydrate 2 g <1%**, Sugars <1 g***, Protein 20 g 40%**, Calcium (from whey) 100 mg 10%, Sodium (from whey) 40 mg 2% **Percent Daily Values (DV) are based on a 2,000 calorie diet. ***Daily Value (DV) not established. Ingredients: Cross-Flow Micro-Filtered Whey Protein Isolate , Cross-Flow Micro-Filtered Whey Protein Concentrate , Natural Vanilla and Caramel Flavors, Free-Form L-Glutamine, Free-Form BCAA's (Leucine, Valine, Isoleucine), Soy Lecithin, Hydrolyzed (partially predigested) Whey Protein Concentrate (supplying di, tri, oligo and polypeptides). Contains milk (whey) and soy. In addition, Solgar's Whey To Go Protein Powder is free of gluten and is fat free.

Great Whey
Solgar Whey Protein is a very pleasant supplement that I'm confident recommending because: 1) It's not nauseatingly sweet. The taste is very subtle. I've tried it with just water and another time with milk. If you are looking for something that tastes like a milkshake, I'd try Jay Robb Whey or put the Solgar in a blender with your favorite fruit and sweetener. 2) Solgar Whey mixes and dissolves better than any whey I've tried to this point. It's nice to just see a little foam on the side of the glass after drinking instead of clumps of unmixed whey stuck to the sides of the glass. 3) Like another reviewer noted, it's the only Whey Consumer Reports tested that didn't test for more than trace amounts of heavy metals. It's nice to know the stuff your drinking doesn't cause kidney problems. (On a side note, Consumer Reports only tested a few brands. They picked several from the same companies(BSN, EAS, and Monster Milk.) 4) The Solgar Whey does a good job of curbing hunger cravings. Typically, I get really hungry at night as well as in the morning before breakfast. However, I feel full and really good long after drinking the Solgar Whey. 5) They use a non-chemical extraction process for the whey. For the most part, I try to stick with Organic products. When I don't find a brand that I trust, I look to all natural products. Solgar is a brand I trust. For those interested in other supplements and vitamins, the brands I use and trust are New Chapter, Solaray, Jay Robb, Megafood, Standard Process, and Solgar.

The one you can trust
Well, it's not as good as many of the others. It's tastes awful in my orange juice so I quite drinking OJ and lost a pound. Guess I owe it to Whey to Go. It's not a thick, rich shake. But . . . It is easy to mix. It has pure, good, safe ingredients. No hormones. None of the bad stuff. And, according to Consumer Reports it has little to no arsenic and none of the other heavy metals that seem to be abundant in all the others, including Jay Robb and EnergyFirst. If you mix it with some milk, a banana, a little sugarless pudding, peanut butter, olive oil and whatever else you want, it's great. I also like to put some in an avocado and a dab of water and some stevia. Makes a great sweet dessert. If and until the other companies start cleaning up their messy products, I'll use this and hope they don't mess up too. So, at least for now, I highly recommend this product. I like the chocolate too. In fact, I prefer it. But I don't know about the heavy metal content of it. - Susanna K. Hutcheson

The protein powder I've been searching for...
Solgar Whey To Go vanilla is the protein powder I've been searching for. It's low in calories, high in protein, has only 1 carb per serving and unlike many protein powders, is very easy to mix with water or milk or soy milk, and I find it easy to digest. I really like that it's unsweetened, as this allows me to sweeten as I prefer. I see some people here don't care for the taste - I didn't like it much till I sweetened it with stevia, and then it was delicious - tastes like a vanilla shake. I'm not sure how it would taste with other sweeteners. I was disappointed that the chocolate version of Whey To Go is sweetened with sugar, as I ordered it without paying attention, and it tasted great. My husband has been using it, and he's a very happy camper. Love Solgar Whey To Go vanilla, and I appreciate that it's several dollars cheaper per can here than at my local health food store. In fact, after a few smaller cans, I bought a bigger one. It's great for after workout protein drinks and for recovery on my workout days and the days after workouts. Hooray!

Very high quality and delicious
Like the other reviewers, I was impressed with the quality of this product but shocked at the bland taste and gooey consistency. However, I have found a way of using it that I find to be very delicious and part of a satisfying and healthy breakfast. I put about 6 oz of boiling water into a blender, add an egg and run the blender. This has the effect of slightly cooking the egg, which is safer than using a raw egg because of the risk of Salmonella, and of cooling the water enough that it will not cause the whey protein to curdle. Then I add 1 scoop of Whey to Go and a little bit of Stevia. If you prefer, any sweetener will do - sugar, honey, agave. Then I just give it another whirr. I like this very much just as is, or sometimes I shake on a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg or both. Using this in this manner, it is smooth and very tasty and I haven't added anything artificial. Fruit would also be good in it, or cocoa powder or any other flavoring, but I find it like it very much like this and prefer to eat my fruit separately.

New Formula is Terrible :( I'm Heartbroken
I've purchased a can of this UNSWSEETENED vanilla whey protein powder every month since early 2015 (no joke) and it was the only one I found that had both vanilla flavor and NO SWEETNERS. Unfortunately they have now added stevia and I can no longer drink it. Not only are artificial sweeteners unhealthy, the taste is now sickeningly sweet and not the natural vanilla flavor I've enjoyed for years. I'm so sad I will have to find a new brand (probably unflavored now) since Solgar changed the formula.

Unnatural taste of so-called "natural" vanilla flavor really puts me off!
I would LOVE this product, like I do their chocolate flavor protein powder (which I rank 5 stars) but their so-called "natural" vanilla flavor tastes so unnatural I only use it when I'm out of the chocolate flavor, or in the rare fruit smoothie. The powder itself mixes better than any other protein powder and Ive tried many. It offers excellent body. I began using this product before I tried the chocolate flavor and use their chocolate flavor on a daily basis. I just really wish they would come up with some alternative to the fakey vanilla flavor in this product. It is a strong vanilla-like taste, but it does not taste like real vanilla at all and it actually turns me off, despite that I otherwise LOVE their protein powder. I'm prompted to write this today because I ran out of the chocolate flavor (Amazon delivery delayed) and used this vanilla *flavored* product in my smoothie this morning. I do keep a smaller container around as a backup. Despite using cocoa powder in my smoothie, the fake vanilla flavor overwhelms all other flavors. I've considered writing the company but since there is more power in numbers, I hope this review may lead to others scrutinizing this an maybe we can start a mass movement to prompt them to do something about it. Furthermore, this is about more than just taste. While they call it a "natural flavor" is doubtless produced by GMO yeasts (a quirk in our labeling laws). If you want to learn more about that truly important issue, search for "Vanilla Queen" and learn from her site how these so-called "natural" vanilla flavors actually threaten the sustainability of *real vanilla* production. I actually stopped using the vanilla flavor long before I learned about that, so it began as a taste thing but now it's a bigger issue. Vanilla is actually my favorite flavor but Solgar's is unfortunately really fake-tasting. Too bad! Please Solgar, I'd even be willing to pay more for *real vanilla* in this protein powder and would love to resume buying it in greater quantities. Results make the cost and taste secondary,
Not the cheapest, not the best tasting but definitely the one which has results. First thing you’ll notice is the change in your skin, it will glow.

Contains sugar
Really surprised to find this product contains sugar. Alright only 1g per portion but why bother as it also contains stevia? Too sweet for my taste buds. I'd rather it was unsweetened and add some fruit if I wanted a little sweetness.
