Big, Delicate, Uneven Shell; Minimal Payout
I thought it was cool that a new sunflower seed provider was here in my home state, but bummed to learn the seeds actually come from Israel and are only roasted in Washington. No biggie. One huge let down was the expectation of flavor and size based on the hype. The flavor, despite the gobs of sodium, was not very good. The seeds seemed too dry and tasteless to my palate. Worse yet, there were several seeds that were completely unpalatable based on whatever it is that causes seeds to go rancid in a package. I usually come across one or two in the big brands (David, Spitz, etc.), but I was coming across too many in this bag. Size-wise? Leave your expectations at the door. The shells are huge, but the seeds themselves seem pretty normal sized.Probably the biggest offender to me was the delicate, uneven shell. I like to put several shells in my mouth, crush them one by one, eat the seed, and spit out the shell. Shells from other seed brands, although smaller, are uniform in shape. Symmetrical might be a better term. This means that the shells split fairly evenly and typically in two separate pieces when cracked. These deformed monsters are all misshapen and asymmetrical. When you crack the shell with your teeth, it splits into several shards, making it difficult to find the seed and causing you to have to use your fingers to find the shell pieces to discard them or spit several times to get it all out. It's really annoying. I do not recommend and will not buy again.

Updated review: Really good seeds
Updated: My bad review was acknowledged by South Forty Snack Company, and I received replacement sunflower seeds, with a handwritten note from Josh. The seeds I received are SO different from the first shipment . The seeds are fresh, and taste great. The seeds open easily, and the kernel is good sized. I think the salt is just right. I must have gotten a bad batch the first time I ordered, but South Forty made good on their product. Very impressive. The shells are huge, but the kernels are the same size as small sunflower seeds. The shells splinter badly when opened, regardless of how you do it (fingers or with your teeth), and once you get the shell open, you're greeted with a rotten seed inside. When I opened the packaged, I noticed a rancid/rotten smell, so I should have known what was to come. These are inedible, and Amazon should pull their "Amazon Choice" label from them.

HIGHLY recommended; this company knows customer service.
Really low quality product.Dried out shells, completely empty inside. No taste whatsoever.EDIT: this is a second review for this item.Today, August 21/2019, unexpectedly, I received a box from this company.Inside was a really nice note from Mr. Jonas / marketing manager/ and SIX new bags of sunflower seeds. The note was an apology for my bad experience and mentioned that the new bags are a fresh batch/ also, if I wasn’t satisfied to contact Mr. Jones for a full refund.I have to say that I was impressed. I did not expect this.We tried the new bags. What a difference!!!!Probably, my first bag was an old batch, because the new ones were absolutely wonderful. We are really happy and impressed with the way this company handled an upsetting experience and we will recommend them to all our friends/family.Thank you very much, Mr.Jones for an unexpected surprise.

Big shell small seed syndrome
After seeing these advertised on Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms, I thought I’d give them a try. At $4.99 for a 1/2 pound bag, it did not seem too expensive to experiment with. The seeds are presented quite well in a heavy duty bag that will make it easy to put in your snack sack. They are lightly salted, but not too salty, so that's quite nice. They are indeed large seeds, like advertised. However, that’s about all the good I have to say. I put one in my mouth and the hull/shell just crumbles in too many small pieces and you cannot tell where the seed is. Rest assured, I love sunflower seeds and know how to crack one with my teeth. Ultimately, I resorted to just cracking them in my hand as they just crumble. Upon cracking the hull/shell open, the seed is rather small and, in my opinion, it's no larger than any other sunflower seed brand. It’s just a big hull/shell for looks and just under delivers on the actual part you eat. With the seed size being quite small, and the hull just shattering when cracked even in your fingers, I would not buy these again or recommend them to a friend. My bag has "Best By" Date of 03/25/2020Below are some photos of a few seeds that I cracked open with my fingers, they just shatter vs separating like the other brands.

Almost perfect
I LOVE these seeds. I found them at a Sheetz while traveling in NC and fell in love. I've been ordering them ever since, normally 4 bags at a time. I unfortunately could not give 5 stars because the last few times I've ordered there have been A LOT of bad seeds. I'm used to a few bad ones but one bag it was every few I had were bad. I know this isn't with every bag, luckily. I definitely recommend them. I tell everyone about these.

NOT USA-grown
I was attracted by the large sunflower seeds of this brand and decided to give it a try. I thought I was supporting US farmers so I didn't mind spending a bit more than those found in big box stores (such as David's). But I was wrong. It says it was processed in USA, but seeds are grown in Israel. I have nothing against Israel, but that wasn't my purpose of buying this brand. In terms of favor, it's a personal taste. Some reviewers said they're very salty. To me, it's a bit saltier than some brands, but not overpowering. Would I order it again? Yes, but not for $4.50 a bag for what it's worth!

I DON'T CARE WHERE THESE SEEDS ARE GROWN- THEY ARE TASTY AND GOOD!
I love great product regardless of where they are made. Feel free to try to shame me with your bigot crap. Great products should be rewarded with a purchase. Which I am a proud customer of theirs and have bought several packs and will continue to buy them and share them with my friends and family as way to resist the israel haters that have issues that this product was grown in Israel. grow up folks- the world does not revolve around you!
