OttLite 290G59 Battery-Operated LED Mobile Task Lamp, Black

I needed a light for a crafting event on a Caribbean cruise in February 2025. This light was perfect! It takes AAA batteries that doesn't come with it, no problem. I used the case it was packaged in to keep it from being damaged in my checked luggage. The hardest part was cutting into the surrounding plastic. Once opened, insert the batteries and easy to use. Just lift the light and it comes on. Sleek looking. Now I can have an extra light wherever I need, very versatile and light weight. Take extra batteries just in case. Love it!! No more cords!!

This is the third one I have ordered for my nearly blind mother. It is perfect, and absolutely indispensable, when she goes to a restaurant, unless midday and she sits right in a window. The easy portability and quality of the light are both really wonderful. We have progressed now to using two to light her meal enough that she can see a tiny bit in always too dark restaurants.

This portable light is very easy to use. It is lightweight and the battery life seems good. My slight disappointment is that it is not as bright as I had hoped. I use the light for diamond painting and I wanted to replace my light box with it, but it’s not quite bright enough. Very good product though.

I purchased this Ottlite to use specifically while crafting. I love using it, especially when weeding vinyl projects. It’s also the perfect size to move around your desk or from room to room. It’s very bright and so useful. My first Ottlite (same as this one), was durable and lasted for years. I expect the same from this one. I definitely recommend it to anyone.

I really had high hopes for this Ott Portable light. I have used it twice now. The first time with three brand new batteries the light was good for 2 hours and then dimmed quickly to the point of it being useless. I bought rechargeable batteries and tried those. One hour and a half - and again the light dimmed to uselessness. This is unacceptable. I have purchased and use other Ott Lights and based in my experience I expected better from this brand. I am so very dissatisfied with this purchase. Don’t buy it!

This works great for travel (embroidery meetings, seminars etc) I use a different one for home use. I am replacing the same light that I’ve had for several years. The old one only works now when opened to a certain angle. Must be the inside wiring. I use an AC adapter. Hopefully this one will accept the same. There is a small opening but no where does the description state the possibility. This lamp eats batteries. It only lasts a short time using 3 AAA. I use my lamp at stitching outings and would take at least 6 extra batteries in my stitching bag. We purchased the ac adapter & insert at Radio Shack. Not sure where you would do it now.

It's a great little desk lamp if you're working somewhere that's a bit too dim, but the light it emits isn't as eye-searingly bright as I'd hoped. I know it might be asking a lot of a lamp at this size (round 10 inches) and price, but as much as I love the color temperature that it emits (crisp cool white) it still feels a bit too dull to paint to. I should also not that the neck only goes up and down, does not twist, and has a maximum angle of about 120 degrees, so you have to get right under the light to really work with it. Update: even after only a few hours of non-continuous use this has begun to dim pretty badly. It’s kind of a shame because I’d hope to use this as a project light, but I don’t know I’ll reliable. It really is going to be after all. Yes I changed out the batteries and yes, there’s a plug in the back, but this does not come with an AC adapter and the light still dims pretty quickly like it’s sucking up those batteries ASAP.

I am a crafter and painter and sometimes I need more light. This light throws strong light in a small area and it's just what I need. It's very light weight and easy to move. I'm sure it will be great when the electricty is out as well. I have read other reviews that said that batteries don't last that long. I use the light in short bursts, an hour at a time and have not yet needed to change batteries. Perhaps if it was my only light I might have a different experience.

This provides good light for small projects, especially when working at a table. Portable, no need to plug in. Have yet to see how long the batteries last, but, for temporary additional lighting for close work, this works well.

folds up and fits into my scrapbooking back. Battery operated to works well when at a Crop with limited access to electrical outlets. Gives me just enough extra light to be able to put together colours for my scrapbooking.

the only complaint I had is it has limited versitality and can be difficult (not impossible) to place right where you want it. Very Bright and easy to handle, doesn't get hot ever. So, all in all, a good buy.
