Just Plain Fancy

We went to the Amish country and wanted to give our friends kids a souvenir. They didn’t have a book for children, so we went on Amazon and found this book and it was perfect for them.

I got this book to read to my 5 & 8 year old before we visited an Amish farm. It was a nice and simple way for them to learn a little bit about Amish culture.

I bought this for my twin grandchildren, age 4. It’s a sweet story with a nice moral....don’t negatively judge others because they’re different. My little ones love the story and wonderful illustrations.

This is a wonderful story about two little Amish girls. The book teaches about the Amish people and their customs while telling a great story. There is suspense and beautiful pictures to help the story along. I bought this book to read out loud to the children in my church during "story time." They tried to guess what kind of bird"Fancy" was and they loved the picture of the peacock at the end. This is a great book and adds to my Patricia Polacco collection.

This is a lovely story of a girl who struggles with the idea of wanting something others think is indulgent. It’s a wonderful read!

Bought this for my 7 year old granddaughter. She loved it as we're live in small town Iowa with a large Amish and Mennonite population. My city girl enjoys going to get eggs and produce with me and loved learning a little more about their lifestyle.

Amazon takes forever to ship, but these are some of patricia polaccos best drawings, so filled with motion and atmosphere. Rachenka's eggs is another masterpiece but these drawings are more suited to a childrens' book. There are lots of details for kids to overlook, then ask about the second or third time you read it together.
