Unless your hair is already very short, and you are just doing a trim, the clippers aren't up to the job. For shaving off longer hair they will frequently become clogged, lose power quickly, and are a bit too small. They are fine for shaving your face, and for turning a number 4 into a number 3, but for cutting anything longer you should get proper hair trimmers. They also take a very long time to recharge, so if they die mid-cut then you're stuck with half a haircut. **Q: Does it come with a uk plug?** A: Our Braun shavers and Beard Trimmers come with an EU 2 pin plug, which would be compatible with most UK 2 Pin shaver sockets. For safety reasons, any appliances intended for use in the bathroom and in close proximity to water must plug into a 2 pin shaver socket, to reduce the potential risk of electric shock. These plugs meet industry as well as UK standards. If you do not have a shaver socket in your home, you can use a 2 to 3 pin converter plug (also known as conversion plug), to allow your shaver or epilator to be used in conventional 3-pin sockets elsewhere in the house. It actually caused me physical pain to use it. **Q: does the length have an increment of 0.5 ? So can I trim at 2.5 or 3.5 ?** A: 0.5mm is achieved when no comb is attached. Quickly charges to give about 100 minutes use (although that will depend on what it's cutting, etc), hasn't nicked me yet, cuts evenly, is very adjustable and does the job. I suppose the only negative might be that it won't cut below 1mm, but for me and most out there that will be moot.Edit (June 2020): Well, I don't do beards any more since a few months, but the Coronavirus situation has got me to try it as a hair trimmer. I usually have shortish hair when going to the barbers, letting it grow for a couple of months before going back, but as I hadn't had hair cut for over a month before lockdown, my hair was really getting unruly and the beginnings of a mullet was forming.OK, so I decided to bite the bullet and cut my own hair with these clippers. I watched a few YouTube videos for advice, then just went for it, starting with some scissors to get it down a bit, then finishing all over with these hair clippers. Went for a 20mm on top, with shorter on the sides and back (15, 10, 5), using it unguarded for my neckline and to tidy up behind and around the ears. Fortunately my wife helped me with the back (thanks). Lo and behold, I'm really pleased with the results, and so is my wife. Lightweight, easy to use, comes with two different length trimming combs for short or long beards, as well as a detail trimmer for trimming moustaches and even a free razor! Simply set the length dial to your chosen setting and away you go! If you’re worried about taking too much off, use the longer comb on the highest length setting and work your way up until you reach your desired length, or change to the shorter comb and do the same. The detail trimming attachment works well for shaping your beard and trimming your moustache too. I haven’t used the razor that came with the trimmer as I am happy with the finish the trimmer provides when using it without either of the comb attachments. Crucially, it did not pull or tug at my beard at all while using it. As other reviewers have mentioned, the charger is a bit loose when plugged into the charging socket, but it works fine.
