I am giving this VAX cleaner 5 stars even though I have had to return it! A good suction on a cleaner like this is very important... and it does have a good suction but there's a but! When I tried it for the first time... the suction was so POWERFUL I could not push the brush across the carpet....it virtually was lifting the carpet up! I only have 2 hard floors the rest are carpets but even using the hard floor setting on the attachment the suction is still too powerful. Fantastic for some people/places/ thin carpets but unfortunately not fit for purpose for me... which is a shame as it's a great price too!

The Vax corded hoover has been reliable and straightforward to use. The suction stays consistent because it is corded, so there is no battery drop-off during a long clean. I would certainly recommend buying this hoover, powerful suction, easy to pull around. The supply was also great at resolving parts issue. Amazon provided replacement once they were made aware. Great but.

The power on this small machine is excellent. So strong you get a good workout while you vacuum. I had to open the vent a little or I couldn't move it across my carpet. I was surprised how much cleaner my carpets looked. I am short, so the size makes it easy for me to move it around the house and up stairs. The attachments are easy to swap over and adjust to my needs. There is plenty of cord length to reach into every corner. I'm very impressed.

I was very pleased with this vacuum cleaner when it first arrived, it seemed to exceed its competitors. Unfortunately, it did not last the distance and worked well for 6 months approx. Before it lost its suction power (still works, but doesn't cut the mustard). I resorted to getting a carpet rake to supplement cleans because I couldn't face the effort of hoovering with this. It needs to be cleaned every quarter to maintain any suction. I had forgotten how messy bagless vacuums can be; it isn't great for those who suffer from allergies. On the other hand, it is fairly easy to clean because it doesn't have one of those fanned filters. Do be careful when you wash the filter, it does shed and may eventually need replacing. The pipe is too short, so you do have to carry it around if you want to dust down hard to reach areas. The pet hair gadget lasted 2 seconds and it is hard to remove hair from. There isn't a way to actually open it up. The other parts were lacking. This vacuum is good for hard floors and not carpet. It works well on small surface areas, so studio flats, student accommodation, sheds, upholstery and cars, anything more and you will be hoovering for hours. I've swapped this for a neumatic, which is really what I should have done in the first place. All in all, this vacuum promises a lot and delivers very little. Save your money and invest in a decent vacuum. I will be donating mine as it still works and there hasn't been much wear and tear, but ofcourse there wouldn't be after 6 months.

I would say: "Does what it says on the tin!" But that would be a lie... Because it's better than that. The ease of use, the power and the convenience due to its size, for storage purposes is 1st class. I have nothing but good things to say about this vacuum cleaner. Win/Win.

Bought as a secondary vacuum cleaner for a cat- filled home which is lighter to move around than our main one. Very easy to assemble and clean after use, once everything is dismantled. Suction power is very strong although strangely it struggles to pick up hairs that are even slightly embedded in the carpet; this is specifically important for a pet vac. At the same time the suction makes it hard to move around on certain types of carpet. The turbo tool attachment is very good and makes cleaning the stairs less of a chore. The telescopic adjustment is a good idea though not really long enough as I find myself still bending over at its full extension, despite being petite. The cord could also have been a bit longer for the purposes of cleaning the stairs. This was the first of two Vax products I purchased and it seems to be a recurrent theme that disassembling is not as easy. Removing the head can be quite stiff and pulling the hose out of the main unit to put away also requires a fair bit of effort. For some reason, cleaning inside the turbo tool actually requires unscrewing two screws which are quite deeply ensconced into the head. It's a bit clunky in these aspects and emphasis appears to just have been put on the suction power than anything else; surely quite simple mechanisms would have avoided these issues. Definitely not the worst cleaner but could have been more user-friendly.
