I can get one ear to pop from inflating the balloon but not the other one , any suggestions?

Hi there, general advice we would give in this instance would be to continue with the treatment for a number of days. The severity of glue ear can vary by individual and it may take several days for more severe cases of glue ear to dislodge. What actually is this and how does it work?

It's a bulbous thing . One end you pit against your nostril the other end attaches to a balloon . You block the opposite nostril with your free hand and blow the balloon up using your nostril . I have to say I had my doubts ... I am in the process of cancelling my t tube insertion because of this product . For me it was a miracle . I would also advise use it as directed for a week then revert to every other day . Gives your body a chance to shift all the gunk without too much hassle . Good luck.

Are you supposed to try to keep the device inflated as you swallow

I believe so but it's some years (ca 2011) since consultant told me how to use it - no mention was ever made then of swallowing so I never did.  it still worked for me and I've seen other people complaining that it deflates if you swallow, hence I still don't try.

Does this clear water from behind ear drum

Yes. I get middle ear fluid build up and this releases it. From the first time you should experience the fullness of sound quality improve, but I did it twice a day for 2 weeks to clear the last blockage completely (although I would have said it was clear in a few days.)
