Will this motor replace a GE 5kcp39hg r189p? Its for a 30 inch whole house fan.

I used this motor on my Sears whole house fan and it works. The hardware appears to be all compatible. This is not quite the exact same though, and I think the starting torque may be a bit lower on this one. The description does not indicate that this motor includes a capacitor, but it does.

Can I run this motor with a variable speed controller? If so, can you suggest one?

I think this motor can only run specific speeds that it is wired for internally, not variable speeds. three speeds only.
