Review: Rugged, Smooth Latching, and Perfect for Secure Fence Access! - I ordered this heavy-duty self-latching gate hardware to install on a cattle fence section, giving me easier access to the property line behind me for ongoing repairs. The build quality is excellent. The latch is stamped from a thick, heavy-gauge steel that feels highly solid, and the glossy black powder-coated finish is applied evenly to protect against rust and harsh weather exposure. The pivot hardware on the catch mechanism operates very smoothly with zero sticking, catching the strike bar securely every single time the gate swings shut. It features pre-drilled, heavy-duty mounting holes that make installation onto a wood post incredibly straightforward with standard outdoor screws. It also includes an integrated hole for a padlock if you require added security. It's a simple, robust piece of hardware that functions flawlessly. Highly recommended. ## Features - Designed for out-swing gates, doors, and animal pens - Hole punch in release lever is for rigging cord release from opposite side - Strike can be mounted either on the gate or the post for left or right hand applications - Fingertip trip release that latches automatically - Can be padlocked for added security ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B004AZ8IDW | | Best Sellers Rank | 630,623 in DIY & Tools ( See Top 100 in DIY & Tools ) 3,527 in Door Hinges | | Brand | National Hardware | | Colour | Black | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 1,582 Reviews | | Finish | steel, coated | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00038613184862 | | Included Components | Hardware;Cabinet Hardware;cabinet-and-furniture-latches | | Item Dimensions | 16 x 25 x 51 millimetres | | Item Type Name | Stanley National Hardware N131-409 298BC Pintle Zinc Plated, 5/8" | | Item Weight | 159 g | | Item dimensions L x W x H | 16 x 25 x 51 millimetres | | Lock Type | lock_type | | Lock type | lock_type | | Manufacturer | Stanley Hardware - National Manufacturing | | Material | Zinc | | Model Name | N184-861 | | Model Number | N184-861 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Part Number | N184-861 | | Recommended Uses For Product | Dog_toy | | Recommended uses for product | Dog_toy | | Special Features | special_feature | | Special feature | special_feature | | Style | Industrial | | UPC | 038613184862 | | Unit Count | 1.0 count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** National Hardware - **Item dimensions L x W x H:** 14.7 x 11.4 x 4.7 centimetres - **Lock type:** lock_type - **Material:** Zinc - **Special feature:** special_feature ## Images ![National Hardware N184-861 Stanley N131-409 298BC Pintle Zinc Plated, 5/8", Black, 5/8 Inches - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61gkOj--fxL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: How big is it?** A: 4 1/2 wide, 2" high.
