I first found this wonderful broth in the cafeteria at M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston my Doc indicated that it was a great way to stay nourished during the upset stomach time when I was undergoing chemo. I highly recommend this product. **Q: How come this chicken version does not have protein if it were real chicken extract as opposed to beef that has 1 g protein?** A: The ingredients says chicken fat so i guess they use the chicken fat for the flavour, fat doesnt have protein in it. **Q: Is this product no MSG??** A: I thought it didn't contain MSG, but I called Hormel to be sure. Amazon sells Herb Ox at a good value for the money vs. what it costs at the grocery store. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ THE best chicken broth - I mix 1 pack of full-sodium w/1 pack of sodium-free in 4 cups of water *by K***Y on March 26, 2026* I discovered this bouillon when I was hospitalized and the night nurse took pity on my hunger pains. It tasted so good that she ended up bringing me 5 cups of broth that night. Needless to say I bought some as soon as I was released but discovered they make a full-sodium version too, which tastes even better but is too high in sodium to drink as broth (1,100mg), therefore I was trying to dilute it with 3 cups of water per pack of bouillon but it seemed to dilute the chicken flavor too much. Someone suggested I try mixing the sodium w/the sodium-free, and with a little trial and error, I found the sweet-spot for the chicken broth that has the perfect amount of flavor and perfect amount of salt - Combine 1 packet of the full-Sodium version with 1 packet of the Sodium-free version in 4 cups of piping hot water. This is now my go-to recipe whenever I'm feeling under the weather or simply for when I don't have a big appetite but need to eat something. And having 4 cups worth of broth gives me leftovers for the next day that I can heat up in the microwave. Not kidding when I say I prefer this to any other brand of soup on the market - including good ol' Campbell's. If you're on the fence about trying this, just do it.
