I became hooked on BLUE BLOODS somewhere around season 5. I tried to catch every episode on TV. Tom Selleck as NYPD Commissioner was perfectly cast, and the revolving cast of characters around the Reagan Family are always suspenseful and fun at the same time. Thanks to Amazon I can now go back to the beginning of season 1. (Some characters didn't age well; 13 years were not kind to some of the regulars.) Selleck certainly doesn't show his age though. I think he was around 75 years old in real life during season 13. Wow! Jet black hair, and of course, his trademark mustache - jet black. How does he do it?

I bought this series because I had caught a few episodes on TV and enjoyed the ones I saw. I do not have a typical schedule that allows me to catch every episode in a series though. I also like Tom Selleck and have always enjoyed his performances.The basis of this show is that there is a family in New York City named Reagan. Generations of this family have been police officers and the show revolves around them dealing with various crimes and personal problems related to the job. Tom Selleck is the current Police Chief, his father is the retired former Chief, 2 of his sons are current officers (1 a veteran detective, the other a rookie on the beat), his daughter is an assistant District Attorney, and he had a son that was killed in the line of duty.The characters in this drama meet up for Sunday dinner every week, and the topics of discussion usually lean toward whatever political realm is revealed by that episodes case. The various character personalities do a good job at fleshing out that issue and showing all sides of the topic. This part of the show is almost a mini debate that you would find on the news.The Reagan's represent at almost all times the upstanding morals and truth that old world Americans aspired to. This is not like the Shield where every character is corrupt and shady, these characters always attempt to stand up for what is right. To me that is a welcome change from what is normally on TV these days, even though at times it can be a little cheesy.The show isn't all politics and debate though. Every episode has a crime or two that is being investigated, suspects and victims interviewed, criminals chased, fought, and arrested. It has action and suspense to go with the drama making for a nice mix of activity in the show.There are issues that some may have with the show. Some may find it unrealistic in some ways, Donnie Wahlberg's character (my favorite) is always the detective that gets the big case central to the episode, but this is just the way TV works. Some people could find the tone of the show preachy in the way they discuss the issues, but I never minded.All in all I would recommend this show to people. This season has 6 discs which have 4 episodes per disc, the final disc has only 2 episodes. Each episode is about 45 minutes uninterrupted by annoying commercials. The discs all come packaged together in a single average sized dvd case with hinged dividers for the different discs, and a dust cover for the case itself. If you like Tom Selleck's character in the Jesse Stone movies, or Donnie Wahlberg's character in the Saw movies then you would probably like this show. Check the show out, I doubt you will be disappointed

Great writers excellent acting. Only negative, endorsement of lgbt etc. however only two episodes. Love the message of Christian / Judeo principles.

Great television series that is still going strong.

Good start wasn't t sure if I would like it but in season 5 now

started this series as an experience ...and it has worked in all points . the quality of the acting and the story lines are briliant. Looking forward the the next season ....
