Rothco Deluxe Safari Outback Vest - Khaki 4 XL

I got this today, perfect condition and it is super high quality. My last one was from Banana Republic sometimes in the late 80s. It is the perfect thing for traveling and running around town. We men don't generally carry a purse but I am the caregiver for my elderly mother in law. We end up going to lots of places, yard sales, thrift shops, restaurants and unfortunately lots of doctor offices. I need to tote quite a few essentials and lugging a backpack doesn't leave free hands. This is loaded up and still feels like I am carrying less and it all way more organized. I will give this one a month and probably order the other colors too. I have a feeling I am not going to want to go without this while it's in the cleaner.

For many years I have regretted losing my old 1990s Banana Republic Safari Vest.Last year I bought an imitation - that was poorly made.My new Rothco Outback Vest arrived this week - and it was immediately obvious that this product is much better.The quality of the cloth, the attention to detail, the lining of the pockets, the workmanship - and the delight in finding that this product is so very close to my beloved lost Banana Republic Safari Vest.I recently renewed my passport - and this vest is an essential part of my gear for future travels.New adventures, in distant lands - I'll be well equipped with this product.

Awesome vest!!! Perfect fit with more pockets than you will ever need! Well made, but surprisingly light when worn.

I love vests, and I couldn't find my regular one for a trip, so I ordered this one to use instead.It's very nice, the fabric soft, and very comfortable. It's got a ton of pockets, including some I wish my older vest had (interior ones) but the other reviews are correct. The velcro on some of the pockets is very tough. As in, use two hands to open tough.There's only a few minor points I didn't like and one major one. The angled zippered pocket on the left breast pocket isn't a pocket at all. It simple opens to the regular pocket there. I wish it were separate. The side size-adjustment straps do not have snaps, they simply use a ring-belt system with D-rings that relies on pressure. This means they work themselves loose very easily. Thirdly, and I knew this going in, but I wish the mesh pocket on the right were a normal pocket instead.Now, the major point. The other reviews that mention this are also correct. The way it's designed the entire weight load of the vest rests on your neck, instead of across your shoulders. This means with only moderate weight this vest will quickly become uncomfortable on your neck. I didn't want to drop it to three stars for this, as most of the rest of it is great, but it's a vest. It's primary use is to carry things and distribute the load over you. When it fails to do that correctly and becomes extremely uncomfortable, it's failing it's primary job.Also, they run big. I got a big size because I wanted plenty of room. But it was even bigger than I expected. Order one size smaller than you think.

This is a vest and seems well constructed. The image is very misleading. The listing is for a vest as it says, however with the image it makes it appear that it has sleeves also, especially due to the same color of the sleeves and vest in the image.

The vest fits well. It is a bit heavy, but to me this is a plus as I purchased to wear on chill early morning fishing trips to my fav streams.

Even better looking than the photograph. Quite comfortable, very sturdy fabric with mesh and openings to allow it to 'breathe'.
