Sabbats: A Witch's Approach to Living the Old Ways (Llewellyn's World Religion and Magick)

Where to begin?
Where to begin? Well, I believe that you have found the right book for that. That is of course, in regards to the Sabbats. I've LOOKEDUP Lots About ORIGINS of people and their history, and what one discovers is that the mysterious ways of the Celtics traditions (among the others in this world) are not giving up their secrets anytime soon. So take a breath and relax into the mystery. It's quite simple; nice actually. Ahhh the moment! That's why I've personally had to cross reference authors and establish trust based on personally experiencing the practices before deciding they arent worth my time. Luckily ( at least based on my own reflection ) I got to experience my spiritual encounters before ever picking up a book to wonder, so I've had to do a lot of accepting in shorts amount of time by having an open mind and looking for similarities. Of course Manly P. Hall would not necessarily agree as hes made it very clear in his pamphlet 'Treatise on Magic' , "don't experiment with. .." I digress, as I've learned much about putting Too much trust in an author simply because of their status. I don't care how "God like" any human becomes, we are all still equal and deserve the chance to struggle and try to succeed. Theres a little bad in the best of us, and a little good in the worst. That being said *(and I speak mainly to the uncertain ones fearfully glaring at the cover art of these god forbidden pagan books from hell ) to do more than research, and really put your faith to the test by actually trying a recommended ritual or meditation. Because why else have u been "called"? Are you not drawn to this "magick" stuff? I sense you might find you are still ok, and that no, Satan won't get you. But if that's too much, then I highly recommend "exploring the pagan path: wisdom from the elders". I feel this book is the book all witches and pagans have been waiting for and not just for the uncertain curious. It's truly a marvel in light of all thats occurring today, and this particular book by McCoy is a must have if one would not just enrich their own life, but the lives of others and the world around them in which they live. Blessed Be.

Not like the rest
As someone who has read a plethora of books on the subject over the last 30 years, I am shocked that I didn't on this sooner. I adore Edain's work and this is some of her finest. So many tidbits you don't find elsewhere. I was really pleased with the layout and how it reads so differently than most books like it. It is a pleasure to sit down with and in my opinion, and a joy to use for planning Sabbat get togethers for coven work or solitary alike. It's written so pleasantly. Truly, a gem amongst its peers.

Such a good read!
I absolutely love this book. It explains the origins of each one, gives you "things to do or make" for each one. You can tell they genuinely knew and loved the information they were giving you.

Useful, but a little too much like Silver Ravenwolf...
There is a lot of good information in this book, and I really like the recipes and ideas for celebrating each Sabbat. I also like that each Sabbat had its own chapter and ample time to discuss each one seperately, as well as the appendix. That being said, it was rather hard to read from the author's POV. She kept making rude references to Christianity and even at one point called the Christian god their "version of God"--which would have been fine had she not, only paragraphs before, referred to other religions' gods in a much more respectful manner. Also, she kept talking about the popularized, fluffy-bunny "Burning Times" as though it was all the argument Pagans needed to look down on others who don't understand our ways. And at times I was even worried if her historical "facts" were even facts at all.Granted, there is a LOT of useful information in here, but I hate reading Pagan literature written by authors who clearly have problems with other religions (mainly the Church) and let that bitterness and petty way of thinking dictate nearly everything they say. As a Pagan who believes fully in the acceptance of others' beliefs, I find it unacceptable.

Good buy.
Exactly what you'd expect. Nice velvety feeling on the covers. Good information, simple and broad, in depth when needed and kept a good variation. Its one of the must haves when pulling from the shelf for refreshing the mind on upcoming Sabbats.

Love this book
This is a fantastis book for anyone interested in the sabbaths... it's written in a language easy to understand and.doesnt confuse you or put you off with too much "witchy" language. It offers recipes and craftwork for your alter for specific holidays and so much more. I love it. It's a must for anyone looking a little further into Wicca without it going too deep. So glad i bought it x

Great book, but different cover to what is pictured.
It is a great book, full of fantastic information and i am glad i brought it. But just be warned the picture of the book on amazon is not the book you get in real life. Its a different cover to the one on the picture which is a shame for me as i really wanted the one with the cover as pictured. But apart from that i have no complaints.

Brilliant
Just what I wanted and what's on the can. No need to say more but Amazon is stupid.& doesn't pay its fair share of tax.
