Very Short Scary Tales to Read Together (You Read to Me, I'll Read to You, 4)

This was a great way to get my granddaughter to read. She is 7 and has a bit of trouble reading and consequently doesn’t want/like to read. I found these books and she loves that we both have our own “assigned” parts to read. Each story is only 2 pages, illustrated and funny. We have 3 books and I. Jusst ordered a bigger volume with longer stories. Reading is important and this is getting her interested.

We really liked this one where you read to the child and they read to you.

We keep coming back to these books over the years. These are great for learning how to read. The rhythm and the rhyme helps kids work their way though words that might otherwise be above their reading level. Because the kid and adult alternate reading short paragraphs, the kid doesn't get bogged down in the text and the story keeps the momentum going. For older kids who already have reading skills, the back-and-forth banter format is just plain fun to read. Highly recommended!

I bought it as a present for a friend's 4 year old Grandson, as she would be visiting with his family in Minnesota for the summer. I thought it would be something they would like to do together, and also start to teach the boy to understand reading. The book was a hit! The first reading left him with his eyes as big as saucers. It took a few times for him to say he wished the stories were "scarier" He also seemed to get with the concept of reading and was "reading" it to his Grandma before the end of the visit. There are other titles in the series. I am pretty sure his birthday and Christmas will include some of them.

This is the fourth of the "You Read to Me, I'll Read to You" books that I have bought and it is my favorite so far. I got one to have at my house to read to my grandchildren and liked it so much I ordered copies for each of the families. The stories are very short and a lot of fun to read. It's a good book for year round but will be especially good for Halloween.

Granddaughter loves reading these scary stories. Short and funny stories. Nice addition to a child's library. She reads them at bedtime. A nice interactive lesson. Encourages reading without tension. Pictures brings the stories to life. The reading scripts are written in different colors so you feel like you are playing a character. Short and sweet, no tension.

My 7 & 5 year old love this book. The stories are short, funny, and fun. A great way to practice reading skills and enjoy time together. No matter how many we read, they beg for one more.

My daughter really loves these books. They make great bedtime stories for beginner readers, especially when you want a short story as opposed to a whole book. The different colors prompt who reads what, which makes it even easier. I have to say that I had hoped this book would be a little more “spooky”, but it was more cute than scary. Thankfully she loves it nonetheless.

Birthday gift for 5yo who loves scary (but not too scary!) stories read to him at bed time.

My family has two other books in this series (the original book, and the fables). We love them all! My 7-year-old son is a good but sometimes reluctant reader, but he loves all of the books in this series. They are at about a Grade 1 or 2 reading level, but with a few more difficult words here and there (which is nice, though, to introduce some new vocabulary). These tales are not too scary for my son; they're meant for young children.

My students LOVE these! They can pair up and each read a part.

Real hit with my children. The love taking it in turns to read. We had one book already which we thought we had lost then turned up and we bought this in the interim as my daughter was so upset.

I bought these books after taking one out of the library, my 5 year old beginner reader loves to read with me and it's a brilliant bonding experience. Highly recommend these books!
